Forums - Microsoft - Gears of War Judgement 79 metacritic so far

I did not expect more than 85 in metacritic. So it is doing fine, for a prequel.

IGN review pisses me off........Weak Villain, worse boss fight, unrealiable teammate A.I. and still it gets a 9.2? And they treated GOW: Ascension like crap, for having certain "faults" and being more of the same (but ultra refined)

I really hope Ascension can still perform great with all those reviews.

That's because the person who reviews ascension was a random guy who apparently doesn't know how to rate a game and the person who reviewed gears was a huge fan of gears. Not fair but it's how the idiot game journalists work.

*rolls eyes* it has nothing to do with the bad story or that people are burned out on the series. oooooo' k

I was talking about the points in the review did not match the final score of the game from ign because 1 guy was a huge gears fan and the other guy was not a huge god of war fan. The ascension review says + satisfying combat +epic finale +immaculate presentation -forgettable story final score 7.8 while gears of war had -weak villian, worse boss fight, unreliable teammate ai and still got a 9.2 because Mitch Dyer is extremely biased on it and is well known on ign for it. So yes what i said still firmly stands.

You mean SonyGaf ^^

No, just because a person owns a 360 does not mean the person loves everything from it. Or the same for any platform for that matter.

I agree, but that animated gif was made long before the review embargo was lifted.

I see it is pretty weird to judge without trying. GAF is so big I usually miss a lot of the fanboy stuff.

What a great year for gaming! Of the five games I was anticipating the most, three of them have turned out to be disappointments. Here's hoping that neither BioShock Infinite nor The Last of Us will join Dead Space 3, GoW: Ascension, and GoW: Judgment.

Coments like this make me laugh...

Do you people enjoy playing games or looking at reviews? I'm sure if you are a Gears fan you don't give a rats ass that Jeff Gerstmann gave it a 6/10 and said...

"Judgment's campaign twists the Gears formula in some interesting ways, but the rest of the package feels pretty thin for a full-priced retail product."

So if it was 39.99 it would be 9/10 but because its 59.99 its 6/10? GTFO Jeff...trying to measure value and fun factor of a video game to each user...G.T.F.O.

Couldn't have said it better. If you enjoyed the series then this score shouldn't put you off. All what you loved is still there.

Just like god of war this game undeservingly gets a low metacritic. If I was a fan of gears or GOW I would have definitely bought the game no matter what the scores are. I am a huge fan of crash bandicoot and even though wrath of cortex got bad ratings I still enjoyed it just as much as I did the first 3 because it had the same gameplay mechs. The best thing I learned is to usually not trust reviewers on established franchises. Some people actually like more of the same and people just have to deal with it.

So many 60s , yikes.

Pretty much identical story as what happened to God of War... Has their ever been a prequel /spin off that scored as good as the original?

Deus Ex and The Prequel Deus Ex Human Revolution both got a 90 metascore on PC.  The first Deus Ex on PS2 only got an 81, and the console versions of Deus Ex HR got 89's. 2nd's my favorite game this gen, but most thinks it's not quite as good as the original. But the answer to your question is yes though rare.

Metal Gear Solid 3 got a 91 metascore, but it is lower than MGS1's 94 metascore but that game only got a 83 metascore on PC so it averages out to less than its prequel.

I'm sure since the Zelda Timeline is all Screwy theirs one in there.

The problem with criticx today is if you make a game to similar they will complain that if offers nothing new and isnt innovative and if you make them innovative and fresh they will complain that it doesnt feel like previous games. Thats the fate of sequels. Never trust a reviewer. I only buy games if i like what i see. I never give a damn about what a reviewer said.
