I know NG3:RE has been getting DLC for awhile now, free ones too, game data is like 314MB right now on the USB HDD. Pretty sure it's getting free ones for MH3U as well. They also have a DLC that converts NSMBU to like Luigi with modded stages.

| BatMaxExposedWorld said: How is the DLC going to fit onto a wiiu hard drive. It must be like 2GB worth of DLC. If you bought an 8gig wiiu it won't work. If you download 2 or 3 different DLC packs on your "32gb" wiiu you'd end up having no free space left. |
Wii U doesn't have a HDD, it has NAND that's 8GB or 32GB, users just plug USB HDDs or sticks to it. There is no restriction on it with USB HDDs like the 360 or PS3, it's fully functional.

Actually its 3gb or 24gb, once you've updated it the console.
Nintendo themselves said: "High-capacity flash drives are supported, but it doesn’t recommend using them because read/write speeds could affect the console’s performance." So high capacity flash drives are out.
They expect us to buy additional third party storage in order to take advantage of the consoles features. You shouldn't have to buy additional USB hard drives in order to use the console. What was nintendo thinking? 3/24gb...
PS3/360 have like 250gb - 500gb included in the console already. So this is just ridiculous.

Considering the first thing I did when I got my PS3 was to change it's HDD, I don't find it so ridiculous at all. :P Also yeah, flash drives can be shitty due to the nature of their design and you'd actually get slower than disc drive speeds.
Also, who's us? Do you have a Wii U? If you don't, then you are not part of "us" here and if you are, time to suck it up lol. I already had like 4 USB HDD's laying around when the Wii U came out so I just tossed a 500GB with it on launch day, not having one is so last century.

Average consumers aren't going to buy 1 usb external hard drive let alone 5. It's not a good thing to have such limited memory.
I'm wondering how developers respond to this. I know there is a migration of third party devs away from nintendo, but I'm wondering how the lackluster storage will affect the DLC specifically
| richardhutnik said: When I saw the Wii U was going with flash storage, instead of a harddrive, I had concerns it would get shorted on getting DLC. I had individuals post and saying the Wii U would get DLC and the flash memory instead of a harddrive, shouldn't be a problem. Well, I am seeing Need for Speed isn't going to have DLC. Mass Effect 3 didn't get any either. So, I am curious, anyone here believe that the Wii U will get DLC? If so, why do you believe so? I am not seeing evidence of this being so. |
What you're seeing is EA being bad at life, and being bitter that Nintendo went with their OWN Miiverse concept instead of using EA's own crap. EA sucks, you should know that by now.
Other Wii U games have gotten DLC, and WILL get DLC, it's a non-issue. And as far as storage goes, while Wii U does have a "fairly small" amount of flash space, it is also, to my knowledge, at least right now, the only home console out that allows people to use external hard-drives and SD cards for extra memory. Meaning you don't have to install a new HD in the system itself. That's not too shabby. So while yeah, the Wii U could stand to have more on-board memory, you can also get fairly cheap TB externals from sites like NewEgg.
The obvious problem is that nobody outside of the hardcore are actually going to buy additional storage. That immediately limits the user experience.
Has every wiiu port recieved the same DLC as the PS3/360 version? It may be a non-issue but I need data to back that up.

People used to buy memory cards all the time and it was never considered an issue. Maybe that is why the Vita is having so many problems as well, cause no casuals want to buy additional storage.

Yeah. Them casuals are too dumb to know how to use a usb. Computers come with a minimum 6 usb slots and yet they still don't know how to plug that thing. Stupid casuals, usb are for hardcorez.
The question is: Is EA not providing DLC going to be the exception or the rule? Is Black Ops 2 on the Wii U getting DLC? I can't seem to find word of it. If EA AND Activision both don't do DLC for the Wii U, then can it be said that DLC will be the norm?
