something i noticed this gen is that games are becoming much easier than before. honestly when playing a game nowdays on "normal mode" now is when you can play the game without any real challenge and die very very little times.

its actually starting to annoy me. specially when games dont have a difficulty mode like assassin's creed, gosh that game is really, really easy. most of the times i failed a mission in that game is from when the AI acts stupid or a bug in the game happens.

i also find shooters to be really easy now days. for example, black ops, one of the easiest games i ever played

do you agree?

it is easier, but imo it happened more with the move to 3D, and then the move to regenerating health from health packs.

That doesn't mean we're devoid of hard games though, and I think offering really easy modes is good for the industry as long as they give the option. For instance, Uncharted, Dead Space's, New Vegas Etc are not easy on hard, but very easy on easy.

I do think they should invest into hard mode, it enhances replayability. For instance in the Witcher a hard mode mod is only beatable if you understand a lot of mechanics within the game. Too many games now have cool ideas with mechanics, but then Fail to implement them so you have to understand the system fully.

Assasins Creed is an easy game even for now. And it really should  have something in it to make them harder.

uncharted on hard mode isnt really that hard. i find shooters in general with the exception of killzone2, to be really easy now days. Call of Duty black ops is one of the easiest games i ever played. in single player or online

just ask God of War: Ascention. this games too hard, gets patched. the game isnt even that hard. Fuck whats next Dark Souls 2 is so easy it makes Nintendogs look hard

Yes. Last gen I had games that put a serious hurting on me. Shinobi, Contra: Shattered Soldier, Ninja Gaiden (and Black), Maximo, the Original DMC3, etc. Games from previous generations as well. This gen the challenge has been watered down (overall). Look at the trend with games like Ninja Gaiden 3 and DmC. Just sad ...

actually i decided to make this thread because i was talking about the patch for GoW ascension. i started the game on normal, something i did with every god of war game, but i didnt die once in the first half hour, not even close to dying actually. so i started all over again and im playing it on hard mode, which actually is just a little bit harder than the normal mode on pervious GoW games. and then i hear they are patching it up to make it even easier? wtf?

Which one specifically? I thought the first one on crushing was a BITCH. But darn, did I feel good after beating it. The other two on crushing didn't require much effort from me, but were challenging enough.

Difficulty decreased as gaming was brought to the mainstream. Its a minor problem that can solved by not locking difficulty levels and making sure to have them in general for different player skill.

uncharted 3, i remember playing it on hard on my first time, then crushing on my second. hard was unlocked when you didnt finish the game right?

Generation 7 shooters have ruined me with regenetive health and checkpoints every two minutes. I went back to play a older shooter the other day and it frustrated me
