Phantasy Star Online >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Monster Hunter > Ragnarok Odyssey.

*edit*

Another comparison to Monster Hunter would be Dragon's Dogma, since boss monsters are a huge focus in both games, yet they're better in Dragon's Dogma and there's far more to offer in the game than just amazing bosses.

Dragon's Dogma >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Monsters Hunter.

Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen comes out on April 23th.  Includes the original game, all DLC, new classes, new dungeon, new monsters and bosses, more equipment.  $40 MSRP.

Yes, and the multiplayer in DD is...wait...there is no MP.

Also: DD's bosses--in fact the entire game--was laughably easy. It's pretty clear you like super easy games which makes it abundantly clear that of course MH isn't for you.

I loved DD, but the game is an absolute joke and offers an entirely different experience to MH, as does PSO (and PSO2, which I imagine you have not played). You know this. Yet you come in here and desperately attempt to talk the game down. Why, pray tell? Platfom insecurity??

You're reaching.  How is it platform insecurity when the Monster Hunter I've played and didn't enjoy was on the PSP, not on the Wii U, yet I still bash it?  Phantasy Star Universe may be on the PS2 and 360, witih Portable being on the PSP, but Online is only on the Dreamcast, Gamecube, and PC, of which I own the Dreamcast and Gamecube versions.  Not only that, but Ragnarok Odyssey isn't on the Wii U and I posted that as being worse than Monster Hunter.

Also, you really don't know my interests other than those in these posts and what you may have seen elsewhere.  You don't know if I've played Dragon's Dogma solo on hard mode, etc.  Also, what does difficulty matter as long as a game is fun.  Super Mario Bros 3, Super Mario World, and Yoshi's Island are the three most common favorite Mario games, yet they're by far the easiest of the older 2D titles.  And speaking of platformers, my favorite platformer this gen is Prinny Can I Really Be the Hero, a game I'm sure you wouldn't argue that it's a difficult game if you've ever played it.  Coincidentally it's on PSP.  :O.  Platform insecurity!!!  But again, I just bashed Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, so how's that work?

Opinions about video games is serious business, I gather.  Then again, this is the internet, where any differing opinion garners mass hatred.  Serious business indeed.

I did not replay to your last comment, because you had a good point, you like more Phantasy Online Star and Dragon's Dogma. And I respect that a lot. But don't say that those games are better than Monster Hunter. There is a reason why there are more people liking it, sales demonstrate that. Phantasy Star has more iterations than Monster Hunter, yet most of the Monster Hunters have better sales. Dragon's Dogma has a lot of features that help you advance in the game more easily than Monster Hunter, and Phantasy Star is closer to Xenoblade than Monster HUnter. I better say Xenoblade to Phantasy Star because the last is older than Xenoblade.

But again, you can't say they are better than MOnster HUnter. You may want to open a poll to see what happens.

Monster Hunter has been a very niche series outside of Japan which has only received more hype the more releases Capcom has put out.  It's a bit unfair that we judge a game that's score is based on hype and the fact that it's one of the better games on the Wii.  Why not compare Dragon's Dogma's Metacritic score to the original Monster Hunter's Metacritic score?

Monster Hunter hasn't really changed all that much.  What with Capcom being the master of putting ever so minor changes in a lot of their  games and releasing it as a new, full priced game.  Granted the Monster Hunter games have seen more of a change than say Street Fighter, they've retained the same gameplay nuances and have mostly received slight upgrades to those gameplay nuances and additional locations.  Basically.  In comparison to Street Fighter 2, we'll say Super Street Fighter 2 is Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate.  More characters(brand new weapons,) more backgrounds(areas,) slight changes in other characters that 99% of the audience won't pick up on(in Monster Hunter's case, more of the same weapons, new stats.)

So the original Monster Hunter on the PS2 received a 68 on Metacritic.  Depending on the console, Dragon's Dogma received a 78 or 75 taking those two scores and rounding up, it's received a 77 on Metacritic.  I think that's fair as you're taking both the original games, when they were both new IPs, removing all the surrounding hype that one has received receiving multiple rereleases, and they're both on consoles that have a very high amount of high rated games.

If and when there are several more Dragon's Dogma releases in the future, we'll see where the score stands then.

Phantasy Star Online on Dreamcast received 89 while Episode 1 and 2 on Gamecube received an 85.  They may have had poor sales, but doesn't change the fact that those two were great games.  If you've ever played the Universe or Portable games, it's quite obvious the score they'd get, if making a worse game wasn't enough, there was the awful storyline Sega shoved down everyones throats.  Phantasy Star Online 2 seems like Sega's saying "I'm sorry."  I'll play it when it's localized in the US.  Not going to jump through hoops to play the game in Japanese when it's more than likely going to come over here eventually.  Either that or it'll get an English patch.  I have a large backlog so I can wait.

Nice to see all the added content, but after trying MH3 for Wii, I found out that those are not my kind of game.

So, you're not a hardcore-gamer?...

Just kidding.

I know you are kidding, but this is how much not a hardcore gamer I am...

I'm pretty sure he doesn't have a Wii U though right? He might have a 3DS, not sure, or maybe he wants it on Sony platforms where he might think it matters to him more since it's his platform of choice? He prolly wants to play the game, it's just not on his preferred platform choice maybe?

I own a 3DS and if it had online MP I would but it on release, but it doesn't.  The online is a big deal to me.  I do not own a WiiU so I want a port to another system with MP included.  Easy.

yeah I know what you are saying, that's why I don't plan to buy the 3DS version myself.
