From what I can see the problem is partly God of War 3. When you conclude a franchises storyline, it can be tedious to go back to a story you know how will end. Personally I think the story looked very good, but it wasn't needed after God of War 3. Where I think the dissatisfaction is coming from. People just arn't excited for this story like they were for the last game.

In terms of combat, it seems to play like the previous games... But the big problem seems to be weapon variety. You have only temporary weapons excluding the Blades of Chaos. That can be unsatisfying for fans who are looking for upgradable weapons, and deeper interplay with weapon switching on the fly.

I can understand the criticisms. Personally I'm finally glad reviewers are being critical. God of War 3 had its fair share of problems, these developers need good feedback, you can't just keep telling them everything they do is gold, constructive criticism is healthy for the developers, publishers and the industry.

I've played the demo and the beta, it seems like an 8+ game; its good the developers are getting this feedback now, it gives them better input for their PS4 game. Which hopefully won't be God of War 4, but something else.

Quick question, guys! In the boss battle where you're fighting the 2nd sister and the Spartan soldiers, how do you throw the spears at her when she's standing on the roof in the background ? I know L1 + O throws them up in the air, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to throw them directly at her. A quick answer would be amazing as this is really pissing me off.

Deserves an 8/10 for me. Great game with the most epic scale I've seen on consoles yet. The fact that my jaw was dropping 7 years into a console's life by looking at the graphics is something rarely seen. SSM are masters and I can't wait to see their new IP on PS4. Hopefully the next one is norse though cause they've used up the greek myths I think and Kratos has no holes left in his story really. Another protagonist in Greek wouldn't really make sense.

Can you read ? lol If you can , then you would seen the part where i specifically said i am playing the new installments atm and i have played all teh gow series starting from the ps2 era.  What part of that did not understand lol.
I got it yesterday.  i am up to the point where you obtain teh ice skill to the chains. If you don't believe me , why don't you add me to psn and better still do you want to me furtehr embarass you by takign a screen shot of all teh god war games on the ps3? . You sure you want that haha.  What i wrote is what i experince playing teh game and yes tehres slowdown in tis installment.  Whats so bs about teh description i gave ? Please do elaborate and grace us with your brillaince :P.  Is it hard for you to accept that the game is not flawless and not worth of a 90+ metacritic.   The game is very simple in its combat system. games like  DMC has more complex and varied adn very deep combat system and heck even bayonetta has more deep and varied comabt system with more varied moves then any GOW games. Have you played any other hack and slash titles apart from GOW series?

You forgot teh HD remakes collection on the ps3 lol. Part one was  hd remake of teh first two god of war games and teh second part was a hd remake of teh two god of wars from the psp library. Thats 4 released durign the lifetime of the ps3

Heck yea it is! This is what I wanted after I first played GOW3 when it came out - another go with Kratos in a game designed for PS3 hardware. None of the other GOW games gave me that feeling in combat, but this one has, and in spades. By far the best combat in the series. I've been playing it on hard and I can't remember the last time I had so much fun with a hack and slash game (probably GOW 3 and Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, but everything since those 2 have been meh or okay for me). I have a feeling if this was a true sequel it would have done better since they were limited with the story constraints of a prequel. Either way, I'll be playing this for months to come and I can't wait to play their next hack and slash game - be it another GOW game or a new IP.

I completely agree, the game play is so fluid now, and the combat system is a lot deeper than in previous games in my opinion.

Off Topi: I don't get why people read so much into reviews of games. I never see this amount of scrutiny of what a single person/site thinks about something in other forms of entertainment. Do people that read game reviews also read movie reviews? I feel a thread coming on.....
