This is actually a good thread. I've been out of touch with hip hop as well. It has descended into something I can't recognize anymore. I tend to listen to guys from the 90s era more (and late 80s). But lately I've been lending my ear to the likes of Drake and a few other artists. My friend listens to a lot of Childish Gambino and Mach Miller, but I can't say if these guys are good or not since I have only listened to a song or two from each.

I think when Soldier Boy started getting popularity I stopped listening to the stuff and went back to 2Pac and BIG. :D That did it for me.
