Punk retirees? It isn't their fault. They were promised the money, now they are getting paid it. Same with every other "promise now, pay later" scheme.

So every other service, agency and welfare payment in the country is up for cuts, but pensions aren't because they were 'promised'?

I didn't say that. I was just saying that it is completely illogical to call them "punk retirees"

How about implementing a Logan's Run solution of offing everyone who is above the age of 30? Problem is that no one wants to pull the trigger, so you have the issue of it being better people just die off on their own for being losers who couldn't pull it together on their own. If you implemented this, the entire U.S Federal deficit issue would go away. Or heck, have everyone over 30 be send on minefield sweeping duties or going into combat.
Nah, best not do this. It is far better to just think the problems will magically go away, tend your own business and think they will just work out... some day.

You'd still have a problem with deficits even with Logans Run.
The post office isn't broke because of retriees. It's broke because of FUTURE retirees.
Which is what everyone misses when it talks about the Post Office.
There system ISN'T pay as you go.
The Post office is required to fund retirees healthcare benefits fully before they retire.
There is 326 BILLION dollars sitting in the post Office's retirees healthcare pool.
That's probably a bit excessive, even with current healthcare costs.
