but the combat did get better with each one, also the gameplay was pretty much spot on from the first game. GoW3 did things better when it came to boss fights and actual combat and puzzles.

Yeah it was spot on and I agree with the if it aint broke dont fix it. But at the same time: What can they possible do to top GoW3? I freaking cant think of anything. New gods and new mythology isn't enough if it plays out the same way. Give us something that feels as fresh as God of War 1 did. They did it once! They can do it again.

keep the chains, they are awesome. but just add more weapons. in GoW3 the new and other weapons were actually good, and each one worked best with some enemies. build more on that, make awesome new weapons that are as good or better than the chains.

They can't do it with Kratos that's for sure.  They're better off starting fresh and putting Kratos to rest for set years.

But think of the ways you kill with the chains. Kratos has done so much it just.. I dont know. I feel like I've seen everything already and throwing different monsters but still having me do my square square triangle is going to piss off the reviewers. These are supposedly the leaders of the hack n slash genre. Let them try something new, I am sure they are capable.

EDIT: They should like put a year and a small team just dedicated on making like 20 weapons and have people try them out and vote for which is the best xD

Hell yes I've played it and I love it. But I am mostly talking about the SP now. The MP added that depth and replay value that will help the games have that "extra content". I am mostly talking about the SP now though. The blades are great but ultimately the gameplay becomes repetetive if you're going to pull a 7th game with the blades. It's the fact that anyone that watches you play GoW1 and then watches you play Ascension will pretty much see the same thing in terms of core gameplay. They need to like somehow change it up so it doesn't become a drag as good as the blades may be. I can pick up GoW1 now and then Ascension and aside from the feel of the game: The gameplay and ideal will pretty much be the same.

Also in Ascension demo: Try pulling R1 to tether your guy, then just throw him with triangle. This renders you invincible. Quite a problem...

hopefully after this game they give it a rest, not make another GoW game for about 5/6 years or so and SSM make a new IP, that would be awesome

It would be so epic if they could produce a new hero and then reintroduce Kratos as a villain several years/games later o.O

Well Jaffe's original idea for God of War 3 was to turn him into the grim reaper.  His blades were going to be exchanged for a scythe.

It sounds too much, especially how the hype for GoW3 was after how GoW2 ended, to have Zeus die so fast and then introduce all other myths. But yeah, in the long run it'd be cool, just not THAT fast of a transition.

I personally wouldn't transition like that, it didn't really work with Hercules and Xena.  I just say start over with a new character/mythos and start fresh. Plus it'll let them experiment with ideas ala Darksiders (Though Darksiders 2 is an example of what not to do).  Then you can switch back to Kratos with fresh ideas.
