I just watched the Digital Foundry   Crysis 3 comparison and that reminded me why I usually avoid third party games on my consoles.

They are not able to sustain smooth framerates!

Crysis 3 runs at like 25 fps on average...... How can they sell games like this?

I also remember back when Castlevania Lords of Shadow came out on PS3 and 360. I bought the 360 version and couldnt even fight the first monster  the framerate went down to 14 FPS!!!!!! (just checked with the Digital Foundry comparison video)  this totally robbed my excitement and so I  stopped playing the game and now years went by. What a waste of money this was....

Sure even games like God of War 3 fall below 30 sometimes but its for like  0.5 seconds at a time and it just misses 30 by 1 frame or so.
And Killzone 3 in multiplayer drops to 26fps or so for 1 second when a grenade is exploding in front of the player but thats it!
Halo Reach is also 30 fps in "ground battle" with occasional dips to 28 or so during "flight" scenes.
Gran Turismo 5 runs at constant 60fps (30 fps in the few seconds before the race starts to show more impressive graphics)
Even old games like F-Zero GX run at 100%  60fps....

But when during your 1 min fight with a monster 45 seconds are below 30 fps  its ridiculous! Dont third parties care?

Seriously it should be illegal for developers to make games where  more than 1% of the time the framerate is below 30 FPS....

When was the last time a major Nintendo console title had framerate issues? N64?  I dunno.  The last time when I noticed framerate issues was Perfect Dark.....

Sure third party has not that much experience with the hardware and therefore the games are more likely to fall below 30   but why do they bite off more than they can chew when it comes to graphics and performance?
Make slightly less good looking games with smooth framerate!  Dont try to battle first party studios because you clearly lose!

The Last Remnant, falling below 12 fps xDDDD ah, good times those.

but graphix are mo important than fps! that's what sells teh gamez

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

yeah i bought crysis 2 on the ps3 and it was a mess, seems like crysis 3 is the same thing. crytek can go fuck them selfs with their pretty graphics. heck they cant even make there games run properly and uncharted and killzone still look much better than them (not the PC version)

ive never noticed low framerate

I am happy to be one of those idiots that don't see really the framerate issues, and I hate people who want to learn me to see it. Most people who learned to see it can't unsee it and that is good for what?

I generally don't notice frame rate unless it's particularly bad.
The extra smoothness of 60 fps is nice though.

I definitely notice when the framerate drops by a few frames from 30fps, anything below about 25 drives me insane.
