Forums - Sony - PlayStation 2 is Not Discontinued!?!?

As far as I know, the only thing that was ever announced was that their manufacturing plants in Japan stopped producing it, but they must've got others abroad.

I don't know why everyone assumed it was discontinued.

Sony CEO is taking the PS2's we throw out and selling them in the middle east. Production is done.

I never doubted it

The final sentence is interesting though, the PS3 won't be hanging around anywhere near as long as the PS2

Thats a little ridiculous to presume

PS2s will still be made 100 years from now.

The markets like middle-east, latin America are still in demand. There the supply just continues until global phase-out is completed in a priority by Sony Corp. And bidding bye to those DS numbers passing PS2.lol! Hail PS2!

It depends on the similar markets lurking around like they do for PS2. PS3 is definitely here for a long time.
