Forums - Sony - PS4 will not support CD's.

"Sony told a Japanese journalist that the PS4 won't support CDs or Super Audio CDs, like the PS3 did."

It's that simple.  I think this suck because I'm using the PS3 as a media center.  It's a minor issue, but I would like the option of ripping CD's  to the hard drive of the PS4.

No BC with PSX games then.

As much as I hate to admit it, CD's are a dying technology. People would rather just buy/steal mp3s. It makes me worried that custom soundtrack songs will have to be bought through official Sony means even if you have the cd/mp3 elsewhere.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

CD... what is that?

People still use CDs? My music has been on HDDs almost exclusively since 2001. :D

We did hear that the PS4 will NOT be backwards compatible with the exception of streaming.  Why need a physical media when you're streaming?

But the CD is my "master copy."  But I can still transfer audio files via USB.  No biggie, but I still would like the option.

Yes I understand. In my home country CDs are still used because they are super cheap and very pervasive. So it is a convenient format for transferring music, but as you pointed out I just use a USB if I need to transfer. Plus it has a higher capacity than CDs so I could do a lot more with it.

I can accept that, I have all my favourite PS1 games in digital form. I just want to know why though, I'm sure it'll tick off a few people.
