People still do that stuff? lulz I only have around 3 or 4 of my close friends on PSN. The great majority of my gamer friends play on Xbox - around 12 - while one or two have sided with Nintendo. Despite our different choices, everybody respects my decision. My Xbox friends go a long way in trying to convince me to go green, but that's as far as it will go. The last time they threw jabs was back in 06/07 when PS3's offerings were relatively weak. Since then the majority of them have shown signs of respect for the system - albeit not so much to actually buy one.
Either way ... I think all gamers should be comfortable with their choice, irrespective of the system or systems they choose (if you like it/them that is).

Yeah I know right? They keep bring up how Sony is still in the red. They bragged about having Minecraft even though it's on the PC.
They get butthurt when certain games get and exclusive content but brag about timed exclusive DLC for COD. And they like to spin anything bad about MS and justify it.

Bah ... just shrug it off. All companies have their pros and cons. Sony may have made mistakes with the PS3, but it seems they have learned a great number of lessons during that time and are moving on with those lessons in mind. At least the mistakes they made were not so big that they could not recover from them. We have PLENTY to be happy about and even more to look forward to. PS+ games and deals, Sony exclusives - tripple A and indie games - and plenty of support. Not to mention things are looking great for the PS4 already, and even if you are not ready for the system this year the PS3 is still getting decent support in the form of games like Gran Turismo 6, TLOU, Beyond, etc etc etc.
My xbox friends know better than to tell me anything. After they saw what the PS3 could do with GOW3 they all shut up.
No more Xbox is the greatest speeches.
I'd say just employ patience and see how things go. While I do think MSFT did some good things with the Xbox, I also think they made some mistakes, and I'm inclined to think their focus has tilted in a direction many of us would not like. Even the most hardcore Xbox fans I know are considering the PS4 due to the issues they have with MSFT (and a great many are X Nintendo enthusiasts/Sony haters, so that's quite a shift).
Oh and Timed exclusive DLC gets a big 'so what?' from me. I'd rather have an entire game that is unique and built specifically for my system than DLC that I'll have for myself for a few weeks to a couple months. I hardly ever buy DLC anyway lulz And when I do it is usually not within the first month or so. Maybe that's because the games I gravitate to have a strong single player component and I tend to get my money's worth before moving on. Plus, I have so many games on PS3 that I don't have time for DLC. I'd rather play a new game than DLC (there are exceptions though). I talk about buying 2 or 3 games a month, and it is more like one or none for them, and with the exception of Gears, Halo or Forza I have those games. xD
Either way, be it Playstation, Wii, Xbox or PC, we all have great things to look forward to. We actually have more in common than differences, especially console gamers. A pity we focus on differences and try to incite wars. Just nonsense ...
How old are your friends? If they're under 20 then that explains a lot. xD
