Remote Downloads for PS3 and PS Vita Are Now Active in the PlayStation Online Store, Here’s How to do it

April 25, 2013 Written by Jason Dunning

The feature that we expected to see in May has now officially gone live and you can now take advantage of remote downloads from the PlayStation Online Store.

What this means is that any purchases you make from the Online Store (Canada, United States, UK) can be added to a download queue. Then, the next time you turn on your PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Vita, that content will begin to automatically download from the PlayStation Store.

Unfortunately, this does mean that your PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Vita won’t turn themselves on automatically, so the games won’t download while you’re at work, but if your system is on standby and you have a PlayStation Plus membership, the downloads will begin automatically.

To see a step-by-step process on how to download your content remotely, follow this FAQ:

  1. On the ‘Thank You’ page or your Download List in the Web Store, select ‘Download to your PS Vita’ or ‘Download to your PS3′ next to the title you want to download.
  2. Provided your device is in stand-by mode and you are a member of PlayStation Plus, your PS Vita or PS3 will switch itself on and begin downloading. If you are not a member of PlayStation Plus the content will begin downloading automatically when you next switch on your PS Vita or PS3.
  3. Once it has downloaded the game will be available on the home screen on your PS Vita, or the Games area of the XMB on your PS3

Do you think you’ll use remote downloads (or remote purchases for non-PS+ users)? Let us know in the comments below.

Finally.  Now I'll use the online store more.  Sony is seriously bringing so much awesomeness right now.

That's good. Sneak by more often. Heck leave a cardboard box or two if you like. :)

Yea, I'm in agreement. They are taking great steps toward this, and I applaud their actions. They're giving people less reason to dislike them, and more to admire them - little by little. To me, we're at a point where only the most biased would criticize them for not making the effort to make the Playstation experience better for gamers, and that includes the PSV too.

Deals!

BioShock Infinite, Tomb Raider, God of War: Ascension All See Discounts On Amazon

April 26, 2013 Written by Sir Deals-a-Lot

Today on Amazon.com, three of the year’s biggest releases on the PlayStation 3 have be discounted by as much as 33%. Both Tomb Raider and God of War: Ascension are listed at $39.99, while the absolutely amazing BioShock Infinite has been reduced to $49.99. It’s not massive savings, but since it’s a game everyone owes it to themselves to play, any sort of discount is a steal in my book.

In addition to these sales on newer games, Dishonored, Far Cry 3, and Assassin’s Creed III are all $29.99. This price seems to be on a more permanent basis, as this isn’t the first time we’ve reported on this, and this week’s GameStop flier is calling these low prices a “price drop”.

And don’t forget, Amazon is offering $20 extra in trade-in credit when you trade in at least $20 worth of games. Find some old games, trade ‘em in, and take advantage of some of these other deals. Think of it as recycling. You’re saving the Earth, and your money. Twice the green.

Any body consider this game? Deadly Premonition: The Director's Cut. This is a summary of IGN's review

STILL THE BEST WORST GAME

The Verdict

If you’re going to measure Deadly Premonition using traditional gaming yardsticks like graphical fidelity, gameplay challenge, and overall polish, then this Director’s Cut still comes up short of modern standards even with the fixes. Yet despite any obvious technical shortcomings, it succeeds on the strength of its story, its characters, and its countless WTF moments. It doesn’t feature enough new content to interest existing fans, but if you want to find out which side of the love-it-or-hate-it divide you're on, now’s the perfect time to play one of the most memorable and utterly insane survival-horror games ever made in its most accessible form.
Deadly Premonition: The Director's Cut on PlayStation 3

7.0
Good
The most playable version of this console generation's best worst game.

+Compelling story
+Quirky characters
+Improved controls and camera

– Not enough new content
– HD makeover barely noticeable
– Some framerate and audio issues
