So some guy on twitter tweeted to Famousmortimer that he would like movie playback on ps4 via USB stick and then mortimer replied back saying he had talked to a sony rep and they said that would be patched in on April 9th at 4pm NZ timezone. Is it true? No idea, but I'm inclined to believe it.

So it looks like Sony does indeed have a clear plan on adding some of these things, but they want it to be established as a games console first or that's what Hirai said they wanted.

naaa, its just about time, they didnt have time to finish that part of the OS so they will patch it in later. its all about priorties. 

Yeah that's a big part of it.  But it's good to know they do intend on patching those things in.  Plus they would want to since people blew the MP3 playback and stuff out of proportion like it was one of the biggest mistakes Sony has ever made.
