Any 3rd party announcing an exclusive game would stun me. I think 3rd party exclusives will be a thing of the past in the coming generation.

same here 3rd party exclusives are dead the closest thing we are going to get to a third party exclusive is like baynoetta 2 and wonderful 101 but even then nintendo is publishing them so they could count as first party

That's not what all the nerds who simultaniously shit their trousers on the internet said when it was announced as coming exclusive to Wii U. Seems to me there is a significant amount of hype. And to the other poster, no, Bayonetta 2 will not be a timed exclusive. It's an exclusive exclusive, because Sega wanted nothing to do with it, even though the first one actually sold pretty well for a VERY odd, VERY niche brand new IP.  Nintendo swooped in and said "BAM", and now it's exclusive. With them also financing/publishing Wonderful 101 (even though Platinum did help develop Revengeance), I would say that in the future it wouldn't be a bad move for Nintendo to use some of their $$$$ and just make Platinum another 2nd/1st party dev for them. Considering that they don't get EVERY multiplat game anyway, having another studio like Retro/Monolith/etc. under their belts could be a big help.

The thing is, the recent studios acquired by Nintendo such as Retro and Monolith have released quality titles under Nintendo's direction.

Which makes me wonder why Nintendo just doesn't do that more often, I mean they have $$ to invest in more studios.

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/profile/92109/nintendopie/ Nintendopie  Was obviously right and I was obviously wrong. I will forever be a lesser being than them. (6/16/13)

Bayonetta sold decently... but its not a system seller.

I'd be wiling to bet it wont even crack 1 million on Wii U

Nintendo most likely rented the Bayonetta trademark from Sega for some period. Once this period is over, Sega is free to make another Bayonetta game (let's say BayonettaΣ2) or rent the franchise to another (richer) publisher. It so happens that after MGRising's success, Konami is seeking to work again with Platinum games, and it so happens there are a lot of hyped PS360 players angried about losing Bayonetta2 who would give a lot of money to take it back. I'm pretty sure that the Invisible Hand of the market will make offer & demand meet.

You're very generous. 200K is a best case scenario, Bayonetta fans are not going to buy WiiUs en masse.

Nintendo shows nothing of interest at e3...then a week later they hold a nintendo direct forum and show footage of a new 3d mario, new metroid by retro, new zelda and announce a new ip (that is an actual normal video game, not a game where you throw frisbees)...also reveal 10 new 3rd party exclusives that actually look like potentially decent games ...all for wii u.

  • Persona 5 for the PS3, release date Q1 2014.

there, i won the thread

I think some significant partnership game between Nintendo and a 3rd party will be announced.
