Depending entirely on your point of view. Many others might find it perfectly reasonable to view the XBL exclusive games as perks to using the service.

Thats the point where the dangling carrot rule applies. They are smart and you've been had. Simple as that.

Hey congrats, for once you're actually right about something. It is a dangling carrot and they are smart.

Of course, how that differs from anything Sony or any other business does, is beyond me. Sony also dangles carrots to PSN users to get them to sign up for PS+. HBO dangles carrots to people to both make them customers and to keep them as customers. Hey it even applies to games. The obvious example would be Call of Duty. The list goes on and on and on.

However, the comment about "being had" is nothing more than your biased opinion. Personally I don't mind spending a dime a day for superior online play and a more social/user friendly service and features slathered atop a great MP title. You're welcome to disagree. The difference is, you can find me a thread about whatever subscription type service you enjoy using, and I won't enter it trying to preach my opinion about its worth, or the mindset of the people who subscribe to the service, down onto the subscribers. You'd have to be pretty emotionally invested into services you don't even use to do something like that.

They aren't dangling a carrot. They aren't locking you out of anything, but rather adding to your experience by adding more gaming for a low yearly cost. Big difference. You paid for a full game and only get to experience half of it without Live. See where I am getting?

It's the same thing, regardless of what qualifier you want to try to slap on to make it MS-specific.MS will promote and put the new Gears of War on a pedestal because it's a great incentive to get Gold. Sony will put Darksiders or Infamous 2 on a pedestal because it's a great incentive to get PS+. Again, it's how businesses work. You can try to make it different for MS but sorry, most of us know better.

Put it another way. If I am in the store and want to buy a MP title, I can buy it on PS3 or 360. I'm going 360 nine times out of ten because I know what Live brings. And if my subscription runs out, I know I will find a sale and renew it because I sure as hell won't be playing Gears or Trials on PS3.

It's not hard. Quit trying to make it hard :)

'because I sure as hell won't be playing gears or trials on ps3'

Isn't that why you invested in a 360? You already paid for a console to play those games.

You can play those games. However did you buy the server? No I didn't think so. The on going service cost money and PS4 is rumored to up their pay to play. If you to broke for 6 dollars a month, for better service. I don't know what to tell ya. Oh sony lost 5 billion Dollars. how much was that from PSN? So your free is costing some one. So why should they pay for you?

Why sony sells less games than xbox 360.  I support  my system, i don't live off it. LOLOLOLOLO

on mmo's you pay to play the game you bought

on xbox live you pay for the ability to play games you already paid for...

they are quite similar except xbox live locks you out of all.. the mmo game only locks you out of that game.. it doesnt block your other games or other usage on the pc.

It does not lock you out of all. I can play my games with out Live. If I want to play online, i pay and my service is a lot better than PSN. You get what you pay for. No wonder sony is losing so much money, a big portion of their fans are super cheap.

Servers don't cost money, I want it all free.

You're not using microsoft's servers either. You're using Epic's/EA's/Ubisofts.

You're using MS's servers for matchmaking and party chat/voice messages/etc.

You can.

Play on PS3.

why can i play all those 360 games on pc over xbox live for winfows for free when theyre using the same servers to provide matchmaking etc? Even steam now.

there's a flaw in you reasoning for this. So lets pretend you play an MMO that requires you to pay a subscription fee like world of war craft on the Xbox 360. you see where im going with this??? let me spell it out to you.

1. You pay your internet provider to access online.

2. You pay xbox gold live to play your games online

3. You pay subscription to play world of war craft on the xbox 360 to play online.

You are paying 3 times just to play a damn game. The worst part about this is that it does not only apply to games, it apply to other apps on your xbox like Netflix, hulu, crunchy roll, etc.... In order to access all those apps that you already pay a subscription for you have to pay xbox live to do so.

Here's a scenario for you in food terms for the xbox360

You pay a monthly fee to get all you can eat cheeseburger (internet fee)

However when you get their they say that in order to get your cheese burger you have to pay an entrance fee (xbox gold live)

Once you pay the entrance you order your cheeseburger they say you have to pay the wrapping fee for the burger. (MMO fee)

Most of them don't use the same servers. PC MP titles are not console MP titles. And since we're bringing Steam into the equation, don't forget you can also use Steam to get free games and discounts yet Sony charges for them :(

Refrain from attacking someones financial status to make your point. Many who dislike Xbox Lives cost can still afford it, but would rather not pay double to use their internet connection. It's called having standards and knowing what you're paying for. Microsoft added a cost without a reason. If you buy a game for a console you shouldnt have to buy the console and then pay for the online just to pay a game that costs the same amount as the online. This is the dangling carrot trick that I referred to.
