Couple of things; Crysis games have pretty bad animations, they stick out in the overall visual quality and they also have extremely strange physics, we're talking Skyrim strange here.

They're certainly good looking, no one can deny that but the biggest problem with the Crysis games is the horrible, bland, gimmicky gameplay and the overall shittyness of the writing, music, and pretend sandbox environments (no, don't swim around to that side of the island, we're gonna shoot missiles from a military vessel at you. This ledge can only be jumped by using Power on the nanosuit, this is the only way to force you to use the different modes since they're mostly useless).

Crysis is the most overrated series in the 7th generation, and that's really saying something. Its like they sacked all the people with actual brains after Far Cry and replaced them with rendering monkeys who think of nothing but post-processing and layer effects.

It is only overrated by a few PC gamers. Nobody really buys or plays the game.

It has a metacritic average of 91 and has sold a couple of million including digital downloads. Crysis sort of embodies all that is wrong with the 7th generation for me.

It received all those praise because of graphics. If it was an average looking game it was 60 at most. By the way I meant the latest  Crysis games. Maybe Crysis 1 was great, I didn't play that one.

Well, Crysis 1 did sell decent, 2+ mils IIRC, even with all the piracy. Unfortunatelly, it was mostly for the wrong reasons, people wanted to see how beatuiful game looked and/or expected FarCry 1 gameplay. And though it wasn't bad game, it really was a huge step down compared to FarCry 1, which was not only technical marvel at the time, but also eceptional FPS by itself (HL1 and FC1 are still to this date my 2 favourire FPS games). But, Crysis 2 really put the nail into coffin, and I don't think anyone esle seriosuly expects anything from that IP anymore.

I am pretty sure most of those sells were at a much lower price point. Plus, there is not much you can do when you set up a powerful gaming computer but to install Crysis 1.

They should just create a new franchise with a better gameplay, I know that they are trying to promote the engine more than anything else but that doesn't seem to work either. I don't know any game using it.

The first one is terrible, I've played that, Warhead and Crysis 2.

No, it wasn't all because of graphics, the reviews are good allround, it recieved praise for almost everything and that's the part that annoys me. No game has ever gotten a 91 metascore based on graphics alone, not even in the notorious 7th gen.
