Forums - Sony - A lot of ignorance today (Remote play and Eyetoy never existed)

There wasn't "many" that were launch wide scale for consumers, to my knowledge. If you could, please post all gaming related cameras prior to the EyeToy on PS2 that reached the market (not prototypes).

What cameras? the Eyetoy is more then just a camera. You can control your game without a controller!!!!!!

Nobody has ever done that before.

Do you get paid by sony for all the "insert word" stuff you write all the time?  Just curious

Seriously, almost every one of his posts makes me hate Sony more. If they pay him for this, I hope Kaz the savior will make sure to eliminate that threat strategy.

Why doesn't someone just put together a timeline? It would be pretty cool to see the evolution of all motion control / portable / everything else and how each of the companies have copied / developed in parallel.
I don't really see it as a bad thing, I mean if no one had "copied" the idea of a games console, where would we be now?

Or people could you know, let it go..take a deep breath and just play games.

Ha, well that would be great but impossible. With a timeline, people would stop arguing over who did what first, and everyone who doesn't care that much (and therefore probably doesn't know that much) has an interesting look at the history, myself included.

I'm being dead serious. My wall post after the presentation:

"Thanks to Sony, the excellence of their presentation removed all bitter taste in my mouth from overexcited fan[censored]s."

Lol at people comparing the PS Eyetoy to the Kinect. There is a reason Sony revamped it to look a lot like Kinect and include 2 camera's now. Because Eyetoy could never compete with Kinect. Eyetoy was a web cam. Same as Xbox Vision camera or any other webcam that allowed you to do basic motion games.

It's a shame Sony never did much with the eyeToy cause at this point the eyeToy is seen as the poor mans Kinect rip off.

It's true that Microsoft released a "copy" of eyetoy but they gave it voice control, gestures and facial recognition along with a slew of other features eyetoy never had.

Sony was very quick to recognize Kinect as a good idea by adopting all new features in their next gen console. I mean they had the eyetoy for 5 years and sat on their ass doing nothing with it.

Same way they paid tribute to the WiiMote with PS Move, and no one cared. This "me too" approach isn't going to work out for Sony in the long run. They may capitalize on initial sales of the craze but their console strategy will be a mess.

Natal(Kinect) was brought to Sony before M$ got ahold of it but Sony turned it down because they already had a camera(PS Eye) and all that they needed to do was upgrade the next gen PS Eye to the power of natal when they would revamp everything

and that M$ vision camera was the real Eye Toy competitor before the Kinect was turned down by Sony and was brought to M$

Yeah thats why eyetoy had none of the cool features that kinect had which the new eyetoy does.

No one gives a crap who had a camera first. What you do with it is what matters. And Sony clearly liked Microsofts Kinect software.
