ps eye is not kinect why do people keep trying to convince themselves. i had the eye toy i have the eye it is not kinect. it is apples and oranges. one can detect limbs in 3d space the other does silhouette detection. semantics dont apply.

anyway i kinda was looking forward to them actually doing something kinectish not sure how far they actually went. the 3d modeling thing was something id play with since i use modo, zbrush, mudbox etc... all the time. but that marionette thing was kinda stupid

smartglass was pure genius on ms part.

Kinect is a super advanced ps eye

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

theres a difference between software and hardware.  thats like saying a 8 track and a cd player are the same because they both play music

Sorry to disappoint you but Microsoft are the ones who copied Sony with Kinect which is basically an enhanced PS2 Eyetoy. And according to your logic, Microsoft are big fans of Sony since they're going to use bluray disk drive on their upcoming Xbox. It would actually be safe to assume that everybody is a fan of Nintendo (analog stick) and the list goes on and. The truth is we're all huge fans of each other.

copying by using bluray?  is like saying copying because they use a hard drive.  bottom line until something else comes along with higher storage capacity bluray is tops although id one up bluray and make small 2 tera harddrives lol..  those things are cheaper than games these days

Nintendo didn't create the 1st Analog stick in gaming..

I'm not surprised. A more powerful camera with a greater sense if depth and wider field of view seems like a natural evolution with technology, similar to going from DVD to Blu Ray. In fact, I'm pretty sure many people expecting something like this for a while now. I know I did.

not sure how far they went with it.... i was expecting better than kinect.  maybe itll come somewhere down the line

Sony will always be the copy and paster's, Nintendo will always have duct-tape ready, and MS are the devil.

These are the big 3. Deal with it!

Wah, strong words from NinPie!  You guys had better get back in line!

He's right, though, this back and forth over who copied what is childish.  NO ONE in gaming is above borrowing a successful approach, just like in any other industry.  Every single one of them has done it.  Even Nintendo, which has the most original ideas, is trying to catch up in areas like online gaming.  This is a good thing for the consumer.

Even then, some of things people label as 'copying' really aren't.  What Sony is doing with the Vita and the PS4 was likely planned even before the Vita was released, so it's unlikely that it copied Nintendo's gamepad.  Given the timing, it's also highly unlikely that Sony copied Microsoft's Smartglass idea, as it's doubtful they'd have anything in a polished enough state to tout.  It's not like it's even that crazy of a concept, as people have been working on getting devices to communicate for years.  The PS4 wasn't thrown together last week, I'm pretty sure.

Regardless, people need to get over innovations being adopted by the rest of the industry.  It's not just smart business, it's the absolute best thing for gaming and gamers.

You'll have to pry the "Sony copied X" meme from my cold, dead hands, but yeah, people in a given industry all tend to do the same thing around the same time without overtly copying. Odds are that a given idea is being worked on by lots and lots of companies before it ever comes to market. And even if they are copying, it just seems a stupid thing to complain about unless they're copying poorly or something. I mean, Sony made a handheld which is (a) perfect for this functionality and (b) struggling mightily for commercial success and a reason to exist. However dumb it looks for them to "copy" this feature, think about how much dumber it would look if they didn't.
