Forums - Sony - Sony's Conference Was Actually Good? (We Need to Talk About This.)

Tagged games:

I didn't like any single game they showed with the exception of that Capcom title which seems the sequel of Dragon's Dogma.

That simply means that I'm divorced from the current video game industry, I don't like their offerings, especially from western companies. I still enjoy lots of Japanese games.

PS4 is the logical evolution of PS3, those who enjoyed PS3 will also enjoy this new system. At least Sony is coherent with its philosophy, then you can agree or disagree with. Unfortunately I can't say the same about other companies.

I apologize in advance for my bad english.

That racing game looked extremely boring. A couple of the titles have some potential, that Capcom thingy could be something worthwhile if its something along the lines of Demon's Souls and Witness seemed pretty intriguing and different.
Overall though, there was lots of big talk and I got the feeling that the next gen might distance itself even more for my part than the 7th gen has, all the social focus, connectivity, sharing etc is not my cup of tea.

As a concept and as a console (as much as we can call them that in these days) it seems brilliant, I really cannot wait to see what MS will counter this with. Personally though, I don't think I feel greatly excited about the whole thing, its simply not built for someone like me. But, that's fine.

don't like racers so I can't comment. but yeah... hopefully it gets a lot of racing sim fans though.

I really didn't see anything that could fair badly for Nintendo. Sure they have the weakest console, but this we knew for months. It still scalable so they will see better multi support, but not everything.

This is exactly right! As generations progress, a VISUAL improvement would require a much higer exponential in improvement than what technology can do. Finer improvements become less discernable to the eye, and look like only minor improvements compared to the effort needed to generate them.

On a lighter note, how many wrinkly old guys did we need to see in the graphics demos?

epic said ps4 is huge leap over ps3

Who cares what Epic said.

I have eyes, you have eyes.  Was the difference between the games you saw today a "HUGE LEAP" over the PS3?

They HAVE to say that, because as I said, this was a pitch to the investors. Sony wouldn't be happy if people came up saying "Well it's a leap above the PS3, but nowhere near the leap we got from the PS2 to PS3...."

Yeah, epic a independant company needs to say something about Ps4's specs so investors will support Ps4 even though epic gets nothing... go learn something

Epic gets nothing.....only a buttload of publicity towards their next release at Sony's expense.

How about you learn a little something. Let me give you an example of why you're wrong:

the guy who talked about the racing game, Race Club I believe the name was..he mentioned that he had to wait for the right hardware before his vision could be made. HOW did the PS4 (or ANYTIHNG related, such as internet technologies) change in the 10 years since he came up with the concept that made this idea invalid for the PS3/360? The answer? Nothing! So why did he say it in a way that his project wouldn't have gone ahead if it wasn't for the PS4 prototype? Figure it out, and don't be blind!

Overall the conference was good, In my opinion a 7/8 out of 10.

Very interested in Knack,Drive Club,Watch Dogs and Braid's creator game. The rest didn't call my attention.

Squaresoft is a joke.

Epic said they cant talk about the new features in the engine yet. So yeah, I'd trust Epic over people like fordy any day

"Halo 6". "Halo - the Ultimate Experience". "Halo 6 Extendend Kill Edition". "Halo Evolution".. jzst to name a few obvious games.

There really is no magical surprise here. The next consoles are defined by their existing clientele. Of course there will be the complete MS hoopla about Kinect, but don't expect any miracles, neither from Sony nor from MS.

It's powerful no doubt but somehow I feel a bit dissapointed.... Also, don't expect to be playing one of these any time soon - I think the early announcement is an attempt to stifle Wii U sales in 2013 which is smart strategy. What is not so smart is now Microsoft know what they have to trump them. And what about price? A $599 US price tag will be a tough sell....

Says the guy who will believe anything said at the conference, no matter how much sense it DIDN'T make. (See the example I made with Drive Club)
