Straight exchange rate. So we in the UK were royally screwed over at the PS3 launch

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

I didn't even read the damn article.

Never started reading.

Any particular reason why not? Seems pretty silly to come into a post to just say you didn't bother reading, no?

if it had been that price it would be number 1 in the UK and i would have to 1 at launch and not 8 months after :(

i hope PS4 is £299

Nice collection of thoughts from across the industry but not really sure it ends up saying anything in the end except no one is sure where it's all going.

That in itself is a huge dynamic shift from 05/06 when the current gen launched and we all knew what to expect (that is, a growing gamer base, a hard fought war between the big three and plenty of great games on consoles with consoles continuing to be the primary gaming devices).

The world has changed and gaming has changed. Consoles are no longer the primary gaming devices of the world. iOS and Android devices are - by far (more games, more developers and more game players than on consoles). PC has also upped it's game and many new players are jumping into the console scene from Ouya to Steambox. The question is are this gen of consoles able to effectively change with the world or (like WiiU and Vita currently) will they be left behind, relics of a by-gone era?

We will all have a clearer picture in just a couple hours.

Yeah I know I would have bought my PS3 much sooner if it was £329 right off the bat. £299 is the same price as the Wii U Deluxe currently, so I think that's a bit hopeful. So I see £350-£400 (maybe both these values if there's two seperate bundles as rumours are suggesting) then I could see it doing rather well here in the UK.

I maintain that it all comes down to pricing.

You think all those FIFA/COD guys will jump at that price? If Sony or Microsoft can really grab that type of gamer then they take the UK. Those gamers have such a massive domino effect.

To me what is interesting about this is that the PS4 is the main article on the main page of the BBC website.

Their sources may be out of step but hell.. PS4 IS ON THE FRONT PAGE.

Not really. But I think the die-hard Sony fans will be much more inclined to bite at £340 than £440, for example. I know I wouldn't be tempted at £400 or over (I simply can't afford it), but £340 gives me something to think about.
