There's at least four, great, arcade games based on the franchise.
There's a C64 game that, if you stretch a little, can be argued to have been the first survival horror game and it was very good.
The Jaguar AVP as well as the pre-2010 games were very good.
The DS title by WayForward was good.
I think, perhaps, your snark got way out ahead of reality on this one, since the Alien franchise has a pretty solid history of good games behind it.
