Forums - Gaming - The Real HD DMC4 Console Comparison: Motion Blur In PS3 Version

@rocketpig

Given that bluring removes some jaggies (as it is another step that combines pixel colours), it is possible that this is what it being seen. Also at the bottom of the article now:

"Update: From further research it may be the case that the blurred frames on the PS3 version does indeed aid in AA, which the Xbox 360 version may not need."

Ah, that makes sense. The 2X AA being better on the PS3 didn't make any sense but the motion filter helping it a bit does.

Or check out my new webcomic: http://selfcentent.com/

There also seem to be better effects on the ps3 version. Just look at the way the ledges of the ice creatures look with the light shining through them:

This reminds me of the comparisons of The Darkness on the 360 and the PS3. Even though the 360 version ran better and had better effects, people said that the colors were better on the PS3 version and that it had a cleaner image.

The reason for this was that the PS3 version couldn't run the visual filters that the 360 version had. In fact, the 360 version had something like four different visual filters you could cycle through, though few people noticed that.

Personally, I hope you can turn off the motion blur on the PS3 version as an option (in the full game, I already know the option isn't there in the demo). I'm already locked into the PS3 version simply because the game just plays better for me with the PS3 controller (the opposite is usually true for cross-platform titles though - The Darkness played better on the 360).

That doesn't look like light shining through it. It looks like white edging to the textures.

In other words, this has to be seen in motion, not from a still.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Although I own both consoles, I'm leaning towards the 360 version. The controller just seems better for this game. The controller for the 360 has better analog placement, and it's bigger, thus resulting in me not having to hold my hands in awkward positions when playing this game. Playing this game on a playstation controller is going to have your hands hurting.

Does this line make sense to anyone here?

"It’s also significant to point out that unlike what is expressed on the PSforums, both versions have 2xAA (gets rid of “jaggies” on the edges of objects), but there are more times you’ll notice an edge without AA on the Xbox 360 than on the PS3."

If they both have 2x AA, yet one has more jaggies...

*confused look*

Actually I read the whole thread and "Quaz51" explains the problems with the 2xAA on the 360 and shows a picture where some objects are rendered without AA.

So they both use 2xAA but it seems the 360 cuts some time by skipping some objects.

Here is the thread with Quaz51's picture of some objects without AA on the 360

Then it must be my 360.. its wierd because it has been acting strange lately.

Maybe you are right... seems someone is claiming the fps on the 360 is locked at 30FPS (cutscenes only?).

Here is the thread : http://forum.beyond3d.com/showthread.php?t=33864&page=6

and the quote:

"Someone was mentioning that the PS3 cutscenes aren't capped at 30 FPS, and they are right.

The framerate sometimes goes to 30, but it is usually around 45-60 for PS3. 360 is locked at 30. Large GIF showing this:

Krik do you believe what every fanboy says about ps3? Please dont be a follower.

Madden 08 for 360 was at 60FPS while PS3 Madden 08 was at 30FPS. Mind you this was last year.

So all of the sudden 360 games are capped at 30fps?

put down the crack.

I noticed it also had better framerate, according to the demo discription the 360 one supposebly runs at 60fps (It did not look 60fps to me it looked like less compared to the ps3 one, unless the ps3 one surpasses 60fps?).

Dunno I've played with both versions and they're both really good looking to me. The 360 seems to have some VERY slight frame rate dips but I really was looking for them. It seems like if it isn't 60FPS it may be 58 or 59 which you won't really notice. All in All the PS3 version looks nicer but not by enough for me to go "oh PS3 version only!" After all the talk about it I had to try the demo, I probably won't buy either version, the demos fine but thats about it for me, just never was my taste.
