Kinda a sad week for me.

Somebody was right the other week when they said that The New Normal wasn't picked up for a new season. I also just found out that Happy Endings was cancelled before I got the opportunity to check it out. Oh well, at least Modern Family is coming back.

Happy Endings had low ratings. Modern Family though should be continued to be renewed for 2-3 more year since its the No.2 comedy on TV.

As to the series with gay leads being cancelled, a quick google search found me a whole bunch of articles with similar fears to your own in response to the same thing. The comments in the Sean Saves the World pretty much sum up the way it seems to be going, ie. either people not being fussed and giving genuine reasons to liking something or not liking something, or people saying things like "Stop shoving this faggoty rubbish down our throats". The latter being particularly annoying since putting a show on air is hardly shoving it down your throat, especially when it wasn't even obvious the character was gay until he made the passing comment about a minute and a half in.

I hate those annoying comments but MF has proven that a show with gay characters can still be extremely popular.

With all those cancellations, it's a wonder that Will & Grace did so well back in 1998.

It did well because Sean Hayes is awesome!

Have you guys seen this Eurovision parody? LOL

At least there's this show. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/ustv/s57/glee/news/a481527/hbo-picks-up-michael-lannan-pilot-with-glees-jonathan-groff.html
It has higher chances to survive on cable, so here's hoping it turns out to be good (I want gay characters as leads dammit!)

Yup, it is pretty impressive Will & Grace survived at the time.

They're are always 30 - 40 cancellations every year on the 4 major US broadcast networks and shows having gay people in them aren't the reason those shows were cancelled. If they were, then no network would want to pick up shows with gay people in them.

The Amazing Race always has gay people competing, and last season a gay couple won. This season a team with a gay guy in it were close to winning but got elimnated in the second last episode.

Watching Eurovision at the end of the Finnish song, the female singer kissed another female singer on stage. This proceeds to have loads of people say it's controversial and people question her as to why she did it. Kind of annoys me how it can't just be a thing like if a man and a women were to kiss at the end of a song instead.

I did like her response in the interview though, she basically said "It's 2013, I should be allowed to kiss whoever I want without it being an issue"

Well yeah...that's definitely true.

The New Normal started off good but it became too preachy about how to be good and politically correct. At least it didn't end with any crappy cliffhangers. That's all that really matters. lol.

As for Happy Endings, I never saw it but I heard the character from it was a good character to watch. I wish it were on Netflix. I need to check Hulu to see if its there...

I only watched about 4 episodes, but I don't think the character was anything special. Gay men tend to call straight acting gay characters awesome for no other reason than that they're not camp. I read such comments online all the time, especially for characters like the ginger guy from Shameless. The guy from Happy Endings was just a lazy bum.
