I won't probably change from Xbox to PS or Nintendo unless MS really screws up things next gen.

Reasons why:

- I would have much to lose if i'd ever did that (all my friends, downloadables, achieves are associated to that one account)
- My favorite games series are on the Xbox aswell (such as Dark Souls, Final Fantasy, Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Blazblue, The Witcher, Naruto Storm, Suda 51 games, Platinum Games games, etc)
- Sony's absorbing quite some losses from theirs business and lost major ground in the biggest markets, as much as i could sympathise with them, i'm not prepared to invest in any of their products without knowing how sucessefull it would turn out to be. As for Nintendo, I'll keep using their handhelds as ever. :)

I'd argue they already screwed up things this gen.

They charge for online services despite the fact that Steam is free, PSN is free, and the WiiU online play is free.

The problem is, they charge and get away with it. I wouldn't call it a screw up if they still make quite a profit from it. Not until we see a major decline of subscribers that forces them to change their way of thinking. You'll see Sony and Nintendo would do the same if they could.

Despite charging for XBL Gold, they still plug up your startup menu with ads.

Gaming ads for the most part (at least to me). Sometimes i can use those tabs to quickly access the game they're advertising... hm, it's probably different in your country though. We don't get half the stuff here.

The user interface on the 360 is gaudy, overstuffed, and confusing as hell.

Eh, what to do. Consoles are overcomplicated these days.

The Xbox 360 is, far and a way, the most glitchy, faulty console in history.

Besides some freezing from time to time, i have had no problems with mine. But yeah, it goes down the history as the faultiest console probably.

you have to pay for Gold AS WELL if you want to use netflix or hulu or any other streaming service.

ahah i wish.

They have so few quality exclusives compared to Sony and Nintendo.

I dislike every exclusive MS has besides some Cave shmups and possibly Halo.

The only thing Microsoft HASN'T screwed up is leaching every nickel and dime from their devout fanbase.  No wonder the Xbox division is so lucrative.  I say screw that.  I'll get a Nextbox, but I do NOT plan on paying for XBL Gold.

Well, they had no competition for years and their business model proved to be sustainable for them to continue. Time will tell if the competition can change it or ends up doing the same. As for leaching, 50$ a year is far from being a rip-off. Over here i never paid more than 36€ for a full year. That's not even the price of a new game (that cost around 50-60€ if not more).

I voted: STAYING WITH PLAYSTATION.

But the truth is, while I am a fan of the PS3, I'm not really a fan of brands.  In fact, over my whole video game history of home consoles since my older bother's ATARI 2600 that was handed down to me, I've mostly been a single home console owner (except for PS1 and N64 for the 5th generation), and I've never bought the same brand 2 generations in a row (I went with Dreamcast for the 6th generation).  So I'm not really guaranteed to buy a PS4.  But I have to admit, I'm now happy with the news that GAIKAI will likely be used to accommodate my backwards compatibility needs.

I'll wait to see what happens, because who knows, maybe VALVE comes out with something great, or maybe even Microsoft comes out with a fantastic XBOX 3, but as of now, PS4 is looking like it may have my business.  It looks like it has the lead atm, but I'll wait and see and judge them on their own merits when they arrive.  I typically don't buy until 1 1/2 years after launch anyways, so I'm in no real rush.

The Wii U (nderpowered) is pretty much a no go now, though.  Nintendo f'd up too much.

I don't understand the "switching sides" thing. Some people here have stated themselves. I am not loyal to a company that is not loyal to me. Not Sony, nor Microsoft or Nintendo is loyal to the consumer nowadays. It just depends on what are you looking at.

I've been with a Xbox360 this entire gen. It's not like I'm crazy for MS. They have fucked up too many times. But as fas as gaming entertainment goes (no, not those social media things which I don't even look at when I turn on the machine), I've been more than satisfied. Sure, they've dropped the ball. No more IP's, no more creativity and so on. But well, I don't know. I like the damn machine. It has some great IPs (more than a lot of people think), and a good online service. Fuck, I have to pay. Well, that's a shame. Good for PS and Wii/WiiU owners, I suppose. But I still like it. I'll probably end up buying 720, or wathever they call it. But it's not like I am loyal to them. They keep screwin', I may sold it and bought another console. It just depends on what they do and what they don't.

I'm staying with PlayStation. I was very happy with every single Sony console I had - PS1, PS2, PS3, PSVita. I have no doubts Sony will deliver it again with the PS4.

Although today I really like Sony, I have enjoyed consoles from all brands - Genesis, Super NES, Saturn as well as Sony consoles.

I might purchase a Wii U or 3DS down the line, depending on software/price offerings (some good RPGs) - also waiting on Nintendo to implement a proper account as I do many digital purchases. It would take a miracle however for me to get a new Xbox. I got myself a 360 in 2011 and I regret it big time.

I've started this gen with Nintendo (Wii and DSi) and moved to Sony after that (PS3 and Vita). Next gen I plan to stick to Sony, Nintendo will come at the second place as I got a bit disappointed with the Wii (not a total disappointment, but I was hoping for more core games making their way to the Wii) and don't want to repeat the story with Wii U. I plan to buy the 360 when MS seriously cuts the price so that it costs between $100-150 with a hard disc to catch up on the Halo, Gears, Alan Wake and Fable games. Though if the next X-box is backwards compatible and MS no longer charges us for online, I may skip the 360 and buy the next one once it reaches $200-250.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

Realistically, I can't even imagine what Microsoft could do to get me to buy the Nextbox. They would have to make online multiplayer free, at least, and then go on a moneyhatting spree that even the early days of the 360 didn't see. I'm just not interested in their HaloBox/media hub bullshit at all.

You've com a long way since your xbox days in 2008.

Oh, hush! Microsoft had a lot of sweet exclusives back then! Then they decided they had built up enough momentum to coast for the rest of the generation, and I got bored with them.

Paying for Live was worth it when they were investing in stealing Sony's games left and right and doing cool shit like 1 vs. 100. Now that they're investing in media apps that I'll never use, they can suck my butt.
