Forums - Microsoft - EA Chicago lead dev moves to Microsoft

The biggest news in here:

Tsunoda takes the title general manager, reporting to Mattrick. His hire is part of a general reporting reorg being implemented by Mattrick, say sources, who also say Tsunoda is project lead on an upcoming Gears of War title.

Sweet if true. But wouldn't the project lead be someone from epic?

The lead part just means the handling of MS involvement I think.

Note: Some games in my collection are no longer owned, but have owned.

Nice find, Bod. IIRC, Tsunoda was the man who brought Fight Night to prominence.

The Gears of War part could simply be MS using the name and milking it for an entirely new team like they did with Viva Pinata.

Wow I thought he was moving to EA Canada. That a big loss for EA. He really took a good franchise (Knockout Kings) and turned it into something excellent (Fight Night). Great pickup by MS.

I don't know if recruiting developers out of EA is the right direction to take if you want quality products... but Microsoft doesn't usually make stupid business mistakes so we'll see.

From what I know of Tsunoda, he's actually one of the few that people want from EA.

Yeah when EA announced they were closing EA Chicago a lot of gamers, myself included, wondered where Tsunoda was going. I mean Fight Night, unlike Madden, is an excellent franchise despite the lack of competition from other developers.

hope microsoft can push his games to their full extent now.
