So I'm confused. Super Mario Galaxy isn't AAA? Xenoblade Chronicles isn't AAA? A COD port isn't AAA? And isn't the AAA bar for the Wii as far as budget is concerned set a little lower, considering development costs are lower?
|
nope they were to cheap to make, super mario galaxy probably cost less than a game like haze and xenoblabe would have been a xboxlive or psn game if it was release on the HD twins
|
How much do Nintendo first party titles cost anyway?
|
5-7 mill for the big budgets but for the wii series I don't think they cost more than 2-3 mill to make. the average cost xbox360 and ps3 game is more than 10 mill

Wow. I believe what you're saying, but do you have some source for that? I always assumed their games could be made on small budgets. They show skill and talent, not big bucks. They don't even have voice acting. It's still amazing how they would spend so low knowing a game was going to sell millions.
Smart game design and above all talent. I admire Nintendo.

this is guestimate from different sources and data accumulation, they don't really reveal their numbers for each games, this is why Nintendo was making so much money during 2006-2010 period, profit from the hardware + cheap games selling like crazy.
The article continues: “ The average Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 game costs between $15 million and $30 million to make, Ibis estimates, and a $15 million game must sell at least 500,000 copies to break even, double that for a $30 million title — and that doesn’t include a company’s overhead costs.“ The article also mentions how the average Xbox and PS2 title only cost between $5-10 million to make, and Nintendo Wii titles cost $5 – 7 million to make.
