What if they do that in next year? |
They wouldn't do that. It's their hook to get people to get the service, if they made online gaming free, like Sony and Nintendo, they would probally loose 75% of their Live revenue, if not more.
As for paying more, yeah I can see them increasing the price $10-to-$20 more a year

They have plan
Even if xbox live was free people will still complain about it...
Then again it are mostly the people who love to pay for PSN plus to get free games ....
I think the idea of paying to play games I already bought is absurd, and I refuse to ever do it. I don't care about features that has nothing to do with games, and raising the price will only continue to make me choose multi-platform games on other platforms. Really, if many of these rumors flying around is true, I doubt I'll even get an Xbox 720. Starting to worry this next generation will suck on all fronts.
None of those are worth paying for. So no I'll scrap the Xbox brand at the end of this gen if Live still requires you to pay for MP (which I think it will). At the end of the day that is all I care about from my gaming console: Playing games.
Well, I don't use most of the Xbox Live sevices that they provide. I just play multiplayer online and I can't warrant paying $60 a year for that when Nintendo and Sony offers it for free. Of course, if most of my friends are playing the next Xbox then I may be forced to give in and buy the NextBox along with a Gold membership.
