Forums - Microsoft - Will You Be Paying More For Xbox Live Next Generation?

this topic is the one which sony fans talk about the most isn't it... ms fans don't seem too fussed either way. funny that.

They are not fussed because they haven't got a choice in the matter. If they want to access the online features of the xbox they have to pay simple as that. This argument has been flogged to death at this stage.

Xbox live will 100% be subcription based next gen. Microsoft would be foolish to drop such a source of income.

They have a choice..  they can get rid of the 360 and buy a PS3 for instance.  They dont... why is that?

Because they have invested in the hardware already? Bought games, made friends online and got achievement points. Most gamers don't want to lose that so again they have no choice but to pay it.

personally hope it either stays the same or drops in price. hopefully more is added to it too. hear in Australia you pay to play online and thats about it. the ps3 has just as many good apps. probs why 360 is popular in US due to live being worthwhile, even for non-gamers

That's not exactly a choice. If you ALREADY have the system and want to play online, XBL is what you're gonna have to get. Simple as that.

Like I said, its sony fans that this seems to matter to the most.

Because we wouldn't be happy about paying this much every year. It's sad there are people in the world who are NOT questioning this.

I think its almost a given that live will increase in price. With the other areas of MS's business failing quickly the games division is their last saving grace to keep them competitive in some way, and increasing prices to get more profit just seems the logical step.

Current Game Machines: 3DS, Wii U, PC.

Currently Playing: X-Com(PC), Smash Bros(WiiU), Banner Saga(PC), Guild Wars 2(PC), Project X Zone(3DS), Luigis Mansion 2(3DS), DayZ(PC)

No. They have a choice.  They also had a choice 5, 6 and 7 years ago when there was a free alternative.

5,6 and 7 years ago, the xbox was a lot cheaper than the ps3. Why would they ditch their ecosystem they have created on xbox live for a console that was more expensive on first glance than the console they already have? Back then, the choice was simple. 7 years later, it is very hard to justify xbox live when you have other alternatives that do the exact same  thing except for free.

Next gen is going to be interesting. Microsoft will need to justify Xbox live even more now that PSN has come along a lot. The premium service Sony provides for $49.99 a year eclipses anything Microsoft can come up with right now.

and still they are outsold massively in the most consumer centric and biggest single market in gaming.

In what?? It is called marketing, unfortunately Sony has been terrible over the last 6 years. I hope they can improve it next gen.

lol.  "its sad that people in the world arent questioing this".  lmao.  Get some perspective man.

So yo are doing this out of concern for your fellow man?

This is gold.

That's rich coming from you!

There is a word for this kind of mentality where people don't question anything. My only concern is if Sony and Nintendo will want to follow suit.
