The DS result is something other manufacturers should go for :) Sell more than you make - way to cut manufacturing costs!

Still, the undertracking of the year has to go to Diablo 3. It's at 3 million, while Activision has recently said it sold 12 million. I think this is humiliating this whole site...

Do you know that digital downloads is a huge market for PC games? I have ~200 games on Steam, and no one is a retail purchase.

Are you trying to tell me that they sold 3 million in retail and 9 million digitally? The games you have are most probably mainly from some ridiculous Steam sales, aren't they? I can't recall Diablo 3 getting any such sale. So no, this number is terribly wrong, is a disgrace to this service and should be corrected. Moreover, if the publisher officially gives us the number of copies sold, they should listen to them and correct the numbers... I think the publishers know better.

VGChartz only tracks retail sales, do you understand that? IoI won't change the Diablo III sales to 12 millions. It's the same with X360 digital download bundled games, IoI won't add them even knowing the game sales (p.e. Alan Wake) because that's this website philosophy. It's not his problem if you don't like it.

Did you even read my whole post? I'm going to repeat: are you trying to tell me that they sold 3 million in retail and 9 million digitally? Do you understand that?

@Barozi: It doesn't matter if it's Steam, Battlenet or GoG. I'm talking about a special SALE. There has been none that I know of, the game is still sold at a regular retail price, so there hasn't been any huge wave of people buying the game for cheap as it happens on Steam like in Kynes' example, so a 1:3 ratio in favour of the digital version is pretty much impossible.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

Just a wee bit.  But, I was just returning fire.    Edit: Hey, where did your post go?

@ Adinnieken

Yea, it must have been a mistake, since 44% was in the official press release.  But hey, look on the birght side.  They were still up YOY.

The Xbox 360 sales represented 48% 44% of the total sales.

Which means, the Wii and PS3 accounted for 249k 300k units (357k if you put Wii U)

Fixed.

No, broken in a way only you can.  As confirmed by Aaron Greenburg, the 281K units sold by Microsoft represents 48% of the sales of home consoles.

48% doesn't exists... MS said 44%.

We can discuss if the 357k include Wii U or not... even so I think Wii U is included... so 300k for PS3 + Wii.

I'm pretty sure that 357K doesn't include the Wii U, as MS specifically stated "current gen" home console.

I'm not sure about that because that puts PS3 close 360 this month... I can't see Wii selling more than 100k... so 257k just for PS3? So I think it is 200k for PS3, 100k for Wii and 57k for Wii U.

In any case PS3 is heavly undertracked again... well it already is in EU (~400k) and others (no specific number)... 3 million on shelves seems unbelievable.

10 secs on a google search: Blizzard's Black Friday offer is sweet and simple: StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty and Diablo 3 are each $20 off, now through Monday, November 26. StarCraft 2 is $20, while Diablo 3 turns out to be $40. These deals are blowing directly through the Blizzard Store.

Good news everyone! Seriously though, every unit counts now.

Holy shit, just fuck off you antagonistic child.

As someone on gaf said, it will be interesting to see just how innovative Sony and MS are after Nintendo retires from hardware.Btw, goodluck with your touchpad PS4 controller.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

And you really think that a $40 game on Black Friday is a real argument in your favour?

That is what people meant by stealth trolling.  You've goaded the Nintendo fans all through the thread.  Every unit counts would read as sarcastic to most people if taken in the context of your other posts.  This isn't a personal attack, just a idea why people think you're stealth trolling.  Maybe you don't see it in your posts but if more than a few of us think it perhaps you should question the message you're portraying.  I don't think it helps that you're so active of course so you naturally get seen posting opinions across numerous threads so sometimes people bring opinions from other threads into discussions with you which they shouldn't.

Of course the guy deserves moderating though as he didn't need to use such an insult.
