The craziest part of all of this is you can blame the price, the marketing, the lack of software, but at the end of the day the PS3 sold almost 4.5x more in Jan 2007 with 599 US Dollars, 'no games™' and crying baby ads.  People just don't seem to be interested in the Wii U.

About two years ago you could have thought the same about the 3DS. Then Sony launched the PSV.

Never say never.

The 3DS was doing mediocre, but not historically bad. Of course, the forums made it seem much worse, but that's expected.

On the other hand, the Wii U is just doing trash right now. I completely trust Sony and MS to get everything wrong, too, but they'll have to try very hard to match what the Wii U is doing.

Jesus Christ. The Wii-U is now beyond any doubt following the GC sales path. At least it easily has room for three pricecuts instead of two like the GC, and Nintendo can finance more games... I say it'll recover like the Vita and both will seel 40m worldwide each.

While being demolished by their competitors, anyways.

ps3 launch was worst ever! atleast wii u has a couple of strong games on it. i was stuck playing def jam icon on my ps3 for the first 6 months! it was ridiculous! and to think ps3 was selling more than the wii u is now with a launch like that.
