Limited data plans still exsist?...

It seems so...mainly in America (yes, the continent) though. Haven't seen any european user with a data plan yet.

Fuck DICE for supporting their game with bug fixes, enhancements, and new updates.

WE DO NOT LIKE FREE CONTENT! CHARGE US FOR IT!!!!!

Yeah, how dare they patch the game with major bug fixes! What do you expect? For them to make sure the game is working properly BEFORE releasing it?

Thus driving up budgets and increasing risk. Which means fewer games and decreased quality.

This wasn't a problem in any of the previous gens. Developers were forced to release 'finished' games. Meaning way higher quality. Costs are irrelevant in this case and should be no excuse. Today, with the ability to download so easily, a lot of publishers are content at releasing half-assed games because they don't care and if anyone complains, do a quick fix.

All the most successful multiplayer games in the freekin known universe had/have patches coming in constantly to tweak and balance things constantly. They also have free extra content for players to enjoy. You bitch about that?!...lol

Why the hell is this EA's fault? Because they are patching the game and fixing glitches/bugs? Seriously quit complaining. It's your fault for not playing the game for over a year, you should have expected a large patch download. It should only take you like 15-20 minutes to DL it anyways I don't know what Wal-Mart connection you have that it takes an hour.

This appears to be the standard today.

And people ask why the industry has gotten worse. For all the so called increased power, it takes longer and longer with each 'advancement' to actually start playing a game. Also, one is penalized by today's standard if you haven't played a game for some time. I shouldn't have to expect anything; I just to play a quick game.

On a bright Sunday morning I put BF3 in my PS3. I started playing around the middle of the afternoon. It was the last time I played BF3.

A number of solutions :

1) got psn+? set it to auto download updates at night when you're asleep, never have to wait for another game to patch again.
2) restart router, just because things downloaded yesterday just fine doesn't garuntee they will today.

Now, the topic breaker.

"Fuck you DICE/EA" because the download from.... SONY'S SERVERS is slow?
The update file is located on http://b0.ww.np.dl.playstation.net which has nothing to do with EA or Dice, so either put up or shut up.

I don't know what yours is but for the larger downloads, they do tend to take an extended amount of time. Although Battlefield 3 has the largest patchs of any game I've ever seen. Most games I play they are a couple of MBs but for Battlefield they are often over 1 GB.

Also I don't know about the other updates, but for one (the Rent a Server) I was able to decline it at first and still get into games. It did mean finding a game was harder but at that point when I just wanted a few quick games it wasn't so bad.

Did DICE add new content to BF3? If yes, I don't get what this thread is all about. 2GB seems pretty good, I'm almost sure the updates of League of Legends in the last year combined exceed 2GB by far, as do the updates of Team Fortress 2

just put in BF3 after not playing it for over a year.

1942 MB download comes up.

Seriously??? WTF! I was bored of COD and wanted to quickly throw in BF3 and play for a few minutes but I'm stuck downloading this crap.

1. It's taking almost an hour.

2. It's using up limited data for the month.

3. Not convinient at all for someone who just wanted to go back and play a couple quick games.

4. I've downloaded full games on PSN that have been quicker than this.

what could possibly be 1942mb that theyre forcing me to download in order to play this game again?

No you mean THANK YOU DICE!

They tweaked and improved the shit out of the game, if you had PS+ the updates would've downloaded automatically aswel.

Some games add additional content without having to pay anything extra. I haven't played Gran Turismo 5 in over a year, but playing it a couple weeks ago I had to download a patch that was around 1GB, Twisted Metal added Axel as a standard character in one of the updates, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 added the 2v2 mode with a couple maps. LBP2 added an entire new scenario, etc..
