Forums - General - Does anyone else think Zombies/Vampires have become mainstream?

What I mean is this:  I remember like 10 years ago, if you liked zombie or vampire movies/games/shows or whatever, it was "unpopular" or "nerdy."  Now, with Twilight and The Walking Dead, it has become normal to get into this media genre.  I am not trying to troll these movies or shows, just how the media has yet again brainwashed us all into thinking what is cool or trendy.

Didn't Anne Rice already make vampires trendy? And then didn't Keifer Sutherland make them trendy again? Oh, and then Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt made Anne Rice making vampires trendy, trendy.

Vampires never really stopped being a trend, IMO.
