"How HORRIBLE! They're just shoving the Eye down our throats by including it with every PS4! Controlling stuff with gestures and voice is soooooo stupid! Imagine how many gigs of RAM they could have added if they didn't include the Eye!"

This is the reaction from Sony fans, right? I mean, seeing how much vitriol has been thrown at the new Kinect, Sony fans must be devastated by this news. RIGHT?

No?

Hmm...what does that say then about all the hatred towards Kinect 2.0? If navigating the PS4 UI with the Eye sounds cool, then you can't really fault Microsoft for wanting to do the same thing with their own camera technology.

You know this doesn't say it will be bundled with all consoles, right?

Gran Turismo 5 was bundled, but that doesn't mean you couldn't buy a PS3 without it...

Until Sony say otherwise, I will firmly believe that they will give you a choice.

If its official, I would be most interested in the Sony community reaction. Its not 100%, but some posters here have allready rationalized it and Sony is yet again the good guy for doing exactly what MS is doing.

Apples, oranges.

Ps4 Eye won't be required to be always on, there is extremely little chance it will be an integral part of the OS.
Cost wise, Ps eye +  Move controller was already a lot cheaper then Kinect. Kinect 2.0 uses more advanced tech, ps4 eye only adds a second cheap webcam and most likely won't ship with a move controller.

We'll know at E3 anyway, then let's start complaining.

I'm more worried about the requirement that every game needs to support remote play. What is that going to do for nice crisp 1080p UI's if they need to work on 960x544. And what about the missing shoulder buttons on Vita. The experience is completely different on 60" or 5".

About remote play:  I was under the impression that the developers don't really have to do anything for remote play and that the ps4 hardware is what will stream the game to vita.  We probably didn't have all the information and developers do indeed have to do something will the game for remote play.  How much they have to do though still is unknown.

I think it will be bundled with every console. Everything they released during the press conference had a indication that this thing will be included in every bundle. Things like Split screen positioning, Light bar on the controller etc.
And the fact that they showcased only the controller and the Eyetoy together is pointing towards it.

That is probably what the accessory port is for. They might have made an attachment that has shoulder buttons and a light bar.

Yeah the hardware will do all the streaming and communication at no extra cost.
I'm curious though what it will mean for the requirements. There are all sorts of requirements for console games, overscan limitations, minimum font size, etc. Those are different on a 5" touch screen.

Pffft, like this is unexpected... Of course the camera will be bundled with every PS4. This is the way of Sony having a "camera system" just like the competition. They have to match the competition so consumers won't go to them thinking they're offering "more" for the same or similar price.

And to those thinking Sony would make the Eye a requirement to play games or mandatory as part of the interface: LMAO, the PSEye is no Kinect, you won't be talking to your TV and any flagging of arms you would do in motion-supported games will be with a controller in your hand.

Woah when did MS say that Kinect is required to be a part of all games and must be used to navigate the UI?

Hold on let me check.........they didn't. Kinect is required to be connect to your system just like your standard controller is. They never said it must be used. Not to mention MS said it can be turned off in privacy settings. So whats the problem with having Kinect reuqired to be connected? Nothing at all, people are just complaining for the sake of complaining. If you are scared MS is spying on you A.) turn the thing off in the systems settings or B.) unplugg the dam thing when you're finish.

I'd rather they include an official headset with every system than a camera.

I guess those requirements could be fulfilled by the hardware.  It will be interesting to hear or see this in action at E3.

Gotta laugh at MS fans who think this is anything like the Kinect and XboxOne. Is PS4 Eye required to be hooked in at ALL times? No. If the PS4 Eye breaks, will the system no longer work or allow me play games? It's not required, so no. Does its inclusion show that Sony is focusing more on casual gaming over core? Nope. Can't really say the same thing about Kinect and MS. Anything to justify MS's decisions and focus, I guess.

Personally, I can't wait to try out the new camera. Motion gaming is definitely not the main way I game, but it's fun with the right games. It will be interesting to see how much the have improved head tracking.
