You forgot LBPK.

If you played LBPK you'd know it's actually really good.

We are talking about game sales

Superbot being shut down is proof it missed expectations by far.

If anything they should have realised non-Smash fighters are niche and had a more appropriate budget.

They closed because they only made one game and they didn't make a profit off of it. That explains it.

Plus, Superbot is an independent studio with no publisher behind them, so, obviously they would close down if they don't have the money.

flops are based on expectations, and my expectations were just about what these games sold. all managed over 200k with twisted Metal doing 250k first wk i think.

i only saw advertisement for Twisted Metal, so Sony failed to advertise Starhawk and Sony All Starz.

game is selling good especially since they dropped the price.

tb plz name the game you speak of next time. i saw Sony All Starz discounted when i went to the store for the first time in 2 months. is starhawk discounted to?

my badd! I meant PSASBR. it was dropped to $40 and didn't go back up since holiday (at least at gamestop)

yea i think it's cheaper at walmart, but it may have been Sly i was looking at.

Based on one website? No other gaming website has it as the best fighting game (from the quick google search I did). Heck it wasn't even nominated on the VGA. It also has a Metacritic of 74, lower than some other fighters like Persona 4 Arena, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Virtual Fighter 5 and some others...

Did you go to the link?

It won the DICE awards, those are big...

VGA are even bigger (whether you like it or not) and it wasn't even nominated. Just because the game won 1 award on DICE it doesn't make it the best fighting game of the year.

When a game wins multiple awards across a lot of gaming websites like Journey then your argument would have made sense.

It wasn't valid for the 2012 VGAs...

I don't understand your point.

This thread is saying these games sold poorly because they were bad. LBPK sold poorly for different reasons.

Also to everyone else I'm pointing out that PSASBR as a contradiction to the claim that it's a bad game and deserved these sales.

no it's not http://community.us.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-All-Stars-Battle/What-say-you-Superbot-may-shut-down-UPDATE/td-p/39463169

Noted.

Has there been any positive or negative sales reaction then?

No, it's still a mediocre game and deserves those sales.  The fact that it won an award from DICE doesn't negate the fact that every other game nominated had a higher aggregate review score.  It doesn't change the fact that the game is so barebones that Sony should really be sort of embarassed about releasing it in that state.  It doesn't change the fact that the game is poorly balanced or that the game's developers were clearly confused about what type of game they were making.  It doesn't change the fact that I've played the game and it's really not that good.

Game sold what it should.

PSABR flopped because it sucks.

Starhawk is a good game but not for everyone and Sony marketing failed it.

Twisted Metal died because Sony rushed it out broken and unplayable online and then took forever to fix it. By the time it was good to go online, its time had passed.

I guess I'll just have to post that it was the best fighting game of the year again.

Cool? Does this mean it did not flop? Does this mean I must love the game or something?

It's a meh fighting game and shitty attempt at making a Smash Bros alternative.

500k is good sales; means a lot of people liked it.
