I usually buy all the consoles at launch. exception being the ps3 for obvious reasons.

Handhelds I generally wait a while, if I buy them at all. Not as in to handheld gaming...

For handhelds I bought a Vita at launch while buying the PSP at least 3 years after launch.

As for home consoles I got the PS3 6 months after it launched while I got the PS2 4 years after its launch.

I plan on getting the PS4 at launch which would make it the first time getting a console at launch for me.
