I don't see the problem with "milking", as long as you keep the quality up, people will want the product,ex: Halo, Mario.

The problem occurs when quality is not increasing enough or actually decreasing to warrant the new product, and therefore receive flak, ex: COD

It goes for several companies to be honest. Ubi soft. Activision, EA, Microsoft, Nintendo, etc.

Well yes, but you have to agree that no companies' franchises have been milked as much as Nintendo's. All the spin-off's and games that involve the same select few characters and remakes of ancient games on every new console/handheld!

Nintendo is like the largest milk factory in the world.

Thats only because they are the oldest. In their short careers in the videogame business Microsoft is probably the worst offender.

Eh, I highly doubt that. Since Microsoft's biggest franchise is only on it's fourth main gme and has had 2 side stories/1 remake.

Over two generations.

While Nintendo from the beginning has had about 50 games every generation that involve that lovely plumber :)

I'd say Nintendo is the worst and always will be the worst offender at milking franchises. They seem very inable to make new original ones that don't involve their same classic characters. Microsoft and Sony have spread their games out over multiple generations and are far from reaching the same level of remake/rehash as Nintendo.

CoD is the only game that doesn't fit with that. Consistently selling 20m is the very definition of how to have a game come out in a way that is not milking.
