There will be a new Wii before there is a new PS3 and that's not a good thing...

Moore of Microsoft has already gone on record (about a month ago), that MS is already working on the next Xbox for a 2011-2012 release window. Very good, imo, as that gives the present 360 6 wonderful years of gaming bliss to give us :)

However, already planning on a PS4 might be strange IF the PS3 is to really live for 10 years. Of course, I guess it really depends on what kind of R&D your looking at for a PS4.

 I cant think the PS4 would be in devlopment, as the PS4 is likely to be a cell/Nvidia based GPU setup, basically making it damn near the exact same model as the PS3, and being near identical to the programmers who make the games. Yet can multiply the power by 2 4 8 16 or even 32x more power with ease.

Could SLI the nvidia chip, and have as many Cell chips as you dream of. 1? 32? The Cell processor scales very easily, and the nvidia chip can be clustered together quite well as well. ;)

Yes, it will be a bad thing. Just look at the DS Lite being released before a new PSP. A total disaster in sales.

I don't know ...I think the difficulty that Microsoft and Sony face in the upcomming generation is producting graphics that are improved enough to get consumers to buy the system, and following up on the Wiimote.

Until Gears of War was released the most common comment I heard from people about XBox 360 was "The games look like XBox games." In 2010/2011 how much better will games look and will people even care about the improvement?

I think the the Wiimote causes massive problems for these companies. I'm going to use the PSP and DS to explain this because I think people will understand better. By 2010 Sony will want to replace the PSP with a new gaming platform to compete with the DS (or Nintendo's next handheld platform). Sony could replace the PSP with a clamshell, dual screen handheld with better screens and dramatically improved graphics but it would't be as popular as the DS. The DS is so popular (in part) because it is unique, (much like the iPod) an improved clone of it will not (easily) become more popular.
