Forums - Sony - Sony needs to keep Crackle exclusive to their console and make it a PSN Plus Perk

Should Sony keep Crackle exclusive from other consoles?

Yes, it would give more m... 15 42.86%

No, I like that its free ... 20 57.14%

They should turn this thing into their own Netflix like service and make it a PSN Plus perk as long as you keep paying for Plus. This thing is awesome and I've actually enjoyed some of the movies and anime shows. I know they are making money letting Microsoft use it, but it seems right that next gen they use that as a PSN Perk. I've watched this product grow from uninteresting to growing to have a library with huge potential as a Netflix competitor. What do you think?

It would be an interesting idea, such as how Amazon offers free streaming videos with its Prime service.

I've never used this service myself though so I have no further input.

If they bring it over to Europe first.

Check it out if you have PSN. On Xbox Live you must have Gold to use it.

I don't think its worth them restricting it to Sony devices, the amount of money they gain by letting other have it would out weigh the perks of keeping it exclusive.
Same reason a lot of Sony Pictures movies get released exclusively early on other platforms and not Sonys own Video unlimited service.

True, but it would make a sick perk. PSN Plus could seem like the gift that keeps on giving if they make that move and increase users who also appreciate multimedia additions.

P.S.

Your sig is f'n hilarious.

Yea it would make a great perk for PS+ users, but not great financial sense. I think Sony should add in a few Sony movies from Video umlimited each month to PS+ that would definitely push me off the fence and onto the signing up side.

Not going to happen, besides doesnt the PS Vita use Skype?

Sony doesn't license Crackle to anyone. The way Crackle works to make it's money (ads embedded into the movies) means that it MUST be in as many platforms as possible. That's like asking Google to make it's search and maps exclusive to Android and it's Chromebooks. Commercial and financial suicide.

How does Crackle compare to Netflix?
