I will be leaving for basic on February 12th so I might see you there! From what I have been told and read, there is not much to worry about. Just do what you are told, listen to instruction, and be in good physical shape before you leave. You will get yelled at but just remember it is a game and keep your head up.

Exactly it's all mental and just keep your cool. Also I've been told that you shouldn't be unique and try to stand out during basic. You basically want to be invisible. So you're in AirForce too right? You going to Lackland???

Thats right, do you have a job yet? I have to wait a few weeks until I find out. I'm going into the electronic field though.

well congratz, been through the USN's basic. as a 6 year retired vet. your going on a self building journey, that will provide for you for the rest of your life. Just remember you have your buddies life in your hand's, and he has your's. Take Heed what the drill instruction is. It is there to make sure every thing run's smooth and to make sure it can save you and your buddies life. You are an investment from not only your Country, the people that are with you but also an investment into yourself.

a good way is to get ready with your internal timing, get ready for long hour's and early rise. Also Time for eating, and double time marching everywhere!
"blue jackets manual" was for the Navy but the air force has one such book, study it as much as you can and practice it's procedures. I know you miss your family and friends, but just remember your self sacrifice for service is commendable and remember this it will serve you well.

what is a veteran:

A person who has had long experience in a particular field, esp. military service: "a veteran of two world wars".

or I like this saying myself:

"is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank
check made payable to The United States of America
for an amount of ‘up to and including my life.’ "

I AM BOLO

100% lover "nothing else matter's" after that...

ps:

Proud psOne/2/3/p owner.  I survived Aplcalyps3 and all I got was this lousy Signature.

When I went through Marine training, there was two people who tried to make a run for the Airport during their fire watch shift. It sucks going through it, but looking back it was pretty fun.

Yeah I'm going to do Air Traffic Control. Good luck with the electronic field job you end up getting. Btw what did you get on your ASVAB? (I got like an 87 or 88)

Yeah I wanted to completely destory it but I was lazy and didn't study hah. Yeah Air Traffic controller wasn't even my choice it was randomly offered to me, but after a lot of research on it I really started to like it. Are you going in for 6 years? Also do you plan on getting your education while enlisted???

My cousin has, actually I have to pick him up at the train station Wednesday at midnight since he'll officially be done >.>

He said many things about it, you get tired of the MREs, barely sleeping sucks, doing a crap ton of work sucks, being outside in prone position for countless hours on end sucks, sleeping in woods by yourself for days on end sucks.

POINT being it freaking sucks, but if you have the will power you got this lol

NOOO, lol though it helps immensely. According to my cousin the amount of push ups, sit ups, etc.. to be accepted into the training is very minimal.

I hear ATC is suppose to be one of the toughest jobs but you would have no problem finding a job on the outside and the pay is great. Right now I am planning to only go in for 4 years and yeah I am hoping to finish my bachelors while I am enlisted. Though with my current degree plan I still need to take another 18 classes or so, if I finish it while I am still enlisted then I will be happy.

Cool man. My original plan was to go in for 4 years on pretty much any job. But the more research I did, the more that 6 years just sounded much better. They (recreuiters) are really annoying trying to convince you to join for 6, but for me it's much better in the long run.

As for the outside, I'm not getting my hopes up that I'll get an Air traffic control job. It's very high paying, but the openings are limited.
