full software emulation will push the ps3 too hard in my opinion. i actually think sony will abandon bc, early adopters will be lucky enough to keep what they have though.

people may see it as a mistake, but they also thought that with europe, yet sales have risen at a steady pace since.

if they scrap every other sku in america, then reduce the price of the 40gb ps3, sales could spike at a high rate. just my opinion though.

I agree that they will abandon BC support. It really doesn't bother me, like you said, full software support might push the ps3 too far. It probably will be a good idea to stop focusing on BC and more on the future of PS3 games.

they are hiring programmers for BC for the PS3 and a next gen console. So they are trying to prevent this. I cant find link.. to lazy to look at their hiring pages. lol

I'm glad I got the 60GB when I had the chance. I got it in December 2006 (or was it January?). I never have owned a PS2 so the hardware BC was a major selling point. I have many PS2 games now, including Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal and Dragon Quest VIII. (Which I haven't actually gotten around to playing yet ... so sad.)

Wait -- so you're claiming that Sony might develop full software emulation, but lock it so that it only works on PSN downloads?

I know Sony gets beaten up a lot for making stupid decisions, but people would be literally burning effigies if this happened.  No. Way. In. Hell.

bc does not matter any more, after about a year everyone forgets about it.

Right now they can kill it of no problem and only a few fanboy fools on forums might whine.

Yeah rereading that...doesn't make too much sense what I wrote. If they did put PS2 games on the PSN, who knows how that would work. If they do do that they probably would design it so that only PS2 games downloaded off the PSN would work on the PS3 and not PS2 games on a PS2 disc. Reason there: make more $$$.

 The 60gb is fully backwards cimpatible so you wouldn't see those issues. I am really surprised by Naznatips list of games. I expected a few titles to have glitches but some of those seem like games they should have gone out of their way to make work.

Right, these would be 80GB only issues.  I still really want a PS3.  In fact, I'll be buying either that or a 360 very soon, but the lack of BC still bothers me.  I may go for a 60GB on eBay...
