i just read gamespots review of wii u. what a pitiful excuse to berate something. i just want to itemize these points for disection because context was so absent.
they complained:
1) its usb was 2.0 and not 3.0 (really?)
2) its lauch had a humongous software update
3) its menu operations take 12-14 sec
4) its basic set has less hdd than advertised
5) its touchscreen is resistitive
6) its video stream is 30 feet
7) its gamepad battery life is four hours
8) its wii data transfer needs an sd card and internet.
these items costitute ALL their complaints. this gave them reason to claim "so much of its promise is lost on inferior tech" and "the results leave a lot to be desired". they claim it doesnt have a proper suite of software and its weak hardware hampers its softwares potential.
things they like:
1) inclusion of a universal remote
2) allowance of streaming video
3) transfer wii content
thats ALL the nice things they say. as if Wii U offered nothing more. just that.
So now I'm going to debunk the complaints and then offer the good features that they happily ignored.
1) usb 2.0 is the most common and affordable
2) humongus software updates plaque all systems
3) load times are an honest complaint (google: first world problems)
4) no one buys the basic set for storage
5) resistive allows user art and other precision
6) quality stream is more important than range
7) battery life is an honest complaint (that's two if you're counting)
8) wii transfer isnt magic, its little pikmin
Now for the good stuff:
1) no latency, large screen, geomagnetic sensors, accelerometer, and gyroscope, camera, microphone, and speakers, near field communication
2) eliminates all heads up displays, provides faster navigation of inventory, persistant maps, variable touch-controls, enables scanning environments and sniping with panarama
3) cheaper non-proprietary highest capacity removable-storage for purchased game collections
4) compatable with www.playon.tv its like windows media center but good. all your pc media content, web content, even cable content; controlled on tv by your touch screen. (had too include, i use it everyday)
so why do you think gamespot hates nintendo, and should they be supported by gamers?
