Long neglected genre making a comeback on the PS3? How about that of the interactive movie?

Are you saying that in a negitive way? Because personally I think the "interactive movie" game is unique and different than most generic action games these days, so I support them.

Why would I mean it in a negative way? I played lots of interactive movies as a kid, and while they usually had about an hour of gameplay per compact disc, I enjoyed them lots. And Heavy Rain was to me PS3's killer app. I just had to have a PS3 when I saw that game, and when I played it (day 1 purchase) it fulfilled every promise. It still wows me every time I pop it in, in fact. Can't wait for Beyond: Two Souls.

Heavy Rain is in a genre I would call "VERY interactive movie".

So many good platformers and JRPG's on the Wii, they were far from neglected. Maybe on the HD consoles, but not neglected in general. Also, with Ni no kuni and Sly we have one new game in these genres now. WOOW...

Its turkish.  Dont even try to reason with him.  Unless you promote sony he wont hear it.

Last week I made 2 threads on how I couldnt wait for Windwaker Remake, but that fact you wouldn't mention ofcourse, it doesn't fit in your agenda trying to discredit me. Don't post this generic nonsense, you do it in all my threads, its getting boring.

I'm replying to both of your previous comments.

Then act like you own all three.  it isn't hard to see that you like sony and that is fine, but sometimes you make poorly done threads like this.  Im not saying all the time, but sometimes.  Let me ask, is there very many people supporting you in this thread?  No they are not and it is because you went about it in the wrong way.  You could have said that Platforming and JRPG's are making a comeback to PS3 but you said 2 neglected genres which automatically will signal flags because they aren't neglected.  They are just neglected by the HD twins.

And yes I own all three consoles as well as the majority of old consoles.

P.S.  Ni No Kuni is a great game.  If you want to support it go to my Ni No Kuni rating thread, or the Ni No Kuni is great thread, or even the Ni No kuni who has it thread.  There is plenty of threads about it already.  If you want to bring attention to JRPG gaming to PS3 as well as platforming then go ahead but word it better.

Also I want to mention that Sony and MSFT has done well with platforming.  XBLA and PSN both do well with it.  As well as some bigger titles like Kameo, Banjo, Little Big Planet, and soon coming that Media Molecule game coming to the vita.  i cant think of the name of it now.  Also Puppeteer is coming.  Ubisoft has done well with Rayman as of late too.  Platforming still ahs a crowd.  They arent as big as they use to be but definitely not neglected from any of the big 3.

I act like? Buddy I own all three consoles. This is a great thread actually. Both genres have been neglected for a long time, 3D platforming was very popular back in the PS1/PS2 days, today they aren't. I know Nintendo makes a 3D Mario every few years but outside Mario you don't have much option in the genre. Sly Thieves in Time reminds me of the good ole ps2 days when we had Jak, Ratchet, Maximo, the og Sly trilogy etc, even Microsoft got in the action with Blinx and Grabbed by the Ghoulies.

NNK feels very traditional and true to its roots, if you talk to people that play the game they'll tell you how it brings them to their childhood rpg days. You can read this, pretty much everyone's feelings: http://pixelsordeath.com/the-short/ni-no-kuni-almost-made-me-cry

I hope next gen we'll see more 3D platformers and JRPGs!

You can't really say a genre is making a comeback with one sly game that you don't even know is good, so that argument is out the window. I'm not even saying Nintendo owns the genre, because you are absolutely right, they really only make a 3D Mario every couple years, but that's a lot more than what Sony has put out throughout their entire PS3 lifecycle, so it's a pretty dumb argument.

JRPG argument is equally silly. Disregarding Xenoblade, Last Story, and the other games I've mentioned is pretty biased. Sure Xenoblade doesn't have the annoying parts of JRPG's, I guess that's a point for you? The point is a lot of other JRPG's on the Wii 3DS and DS are very traditional, and have "made their comeback" for a while.

It's cool that you like both these games, good for you man, but this thread is basically a flame war waiting to happen.

If Ni No Kuni was on the Wii U or Xbox, you wouldn't be saying anything right now.

actually this right here is pretty dumb, because SOny has made more R&C games for PS3, than Ninty made 3d Mario, plus the addition of Sly so no Ninty has not done more than SOny, not in that regard.

Those games feature minimal platforming, and there were only 2 good ones for the PS3.

So yeah.

I will just mention that  this gen, you can probably come up with a very good list of games in those genre (console 3D plats and JRPGs) off the top of your head and manage to barely forget a single title.  Yeah, this list will seem rather great, but last gen those game types were represented with many more titles, especially JRPGs and citing them all off the top of your head is nigh impossible in comparison.

Yeah, no. They didnt have minimal platforming. Tells me you didnt even play those games. There still considered 3d platforms, so yeah SOny did do more.

You guys surely didn't had a Wii, right? I mean, Wii is crawling with those types of games, that's why it was my system of choice last gen, along with my PC.
