The news comes via an updated sales chart, showing the console is up 5.9 million compared to the 70 million lifetime reported in October 2012. Rumor has it the firm will host a special event in March to announce its next console, while Sony is rumored to announce PS4 on February 20. Thanks,Gamespot.

We'll never know for sure what the exact number is for any console. Not to count the amount of 360's that were replacements when the RROD was big back in the day.

Still very good numbers, and think about how much an improvement it is compared to the original xbox was.

Currently own:

  • Ps4

Currently playing: Witcher 3, Walking Dead S1/2, GTA5, Dying Light, Tomb Raider Remaster, MGS Ground Zeros

I love how some people think rrod consoles are counted as a sale. They are replaced for FREE. @ ps3-sales... Do you have any proof they count rrod as a sale? Please verify. 'Cause I honestly don't think they do. Though, I admit, I could be wrong.

moved! how many did they ship/sell?

So 2 million on shelves? It sounds like Microsoft won't ship that many 360's in the upcoming quarter. I wonder if this makes it possible for the PS3 to catch up to it even faster than say october or november 2013.

I call BS on 2.4m on shelf. 2m tops, most likely less.
