Forums - Sony - How would you feel if PS4 BC required PS+?

There has been a lot of chatter about PS4's backward compatibility being done by Gaikai. If this was true, there would be dramatic increase in stress and bandwidth usage on Sony's servers. It would not be too farfetched for Sony to start charging for this service.

How would you feel if BC became a paid service? Would you subscribe to PS+ for it, or you will just go without BC?

I think you shouldn't use acronyms without first writing out what they are.  I'll assume when you said "backwards compatibility," that is what BC is supposed to mean.  I think I'm mostly thinking about the title though.  I clicked mostly because I wasn't sure what BC was supposed to mean.

I would be really unhappy with Sony if they chose such an avenue. I would just play my PS3 games on my PS3, though.

It wouldn't be a deal-breaker, but if Sony combined this with anti-used game technology, I might just skip PS4 altogether. I would be depriving myself of some amazing games, but something like that shouldn't be allowed to stand.

Still, these decisions are all hypothetical. I hope it never comes to that.

Sony will still support the PS3 after the PS4 comes out.

It would be stupid to make the PS4 B/C. Nobody will buy a ps3 if that happens. you can still download PS3 games on the PS4 but you can't play a hard copy.

Sony needs the moooonies.

I do agree with you. But i want the PS4 as cheap as possible. in order to make it cheap they gotta throw out B/C.

When the PS3 got a price-cut in 2009 it was not PS2 B/C. but you can still download ps2 games via PSN.

We don't want another PS3 launch incident with the PS4.

I would be annoyed if they done that, but how would sony even make it a playstation plus feature, i don't understand that.

Gaikai streams remotely to your system, they can easily lock it down to PS+ subscribers only.
