Forums - Microsoft - Why the Surface isn't selling

Sounds pretty good if you ask me.

If you are considering that sales are pure profit, then yeah.  But does it look good for the flagship tablet to sell poorly?

Are you familiar wtih the term "blowing your wad" ??  It comes from boxing and mma where the fighter expends too much energy on going for a knockout and runs out of gas, and then gets defeated.  That is kind of what will happen to MSFT now that it raised the prices of Win8 to normal levels.

Overall, it can't be that great, disolitude.

That's because MS is releasing the Surface Pro. Nobody's going to buy a Windows tablet to have the same(but in much less quantity) smartphone apps as Android and iOS, who buys Windows tablets want a full Windows experience, which is something Surface RT doesn't deliver. Also, Acer and Samsung are also releasing tablets with Windows 8 Pro, making things even worse for MS when they release their Surface Pro, which will probably suffer from sales too. MS got it all wrong while creating Windows RT, the Windows market doesn't want another consumption tablet device, they want content-creation devices, which only Windows x86 delivers.

the iPod is a very well established product and i personally think that was Apple's best iPod commercial yet! it was fun and catchy. The surface ad is a mess. it looks like some weird cheesy thing from the 90's and explains nothing. i also dont get why Ms has spent like 1.5bil advrtising with that advert.. what a waste of money

I was kidding. Apple's Ads have always been eye-catching. They pull it off well.

So what is going to be so great about the Surface Pro?

Runs every x86 app ever released for Windows, runs the same apps as Windows RT and it's just in another level compared to Surface RT in processing power, as it can be used to run image editing software, PC games, video editing software, and, more importantly, supports digitizer pens for taking notes and drawing, useful for business users or students who need/work with that kind of thing. Also, based on the hardware, which is similar to the Acer W700, it's battery should last about 8 hours of normal use, which is almost on par with the Surface RT which uses an ARM processor.
