Ok, this has been driving me crazy, people seem to assume that the Wii is not sold out there, but I see no reason why it is not. All I want is some proof from Japan that if I lived there I could expect to go to a store and find one at any time of the day... If not they are supply constrained imo.

The reason I believe that the Wii is not is because if the demand was not there Nintendo would relallocate console to NA or UK or somewhere...

I don't live in Japan but to sum up my impressions from those who do nd have posted on here:

As suppy constriants eased worldwide last summer, demand picked up in US and Europe. Galxaxy's launch pushed it even further and all consoles were gone.

Japan's see some of the worst sales of the year in October and November. The Galaxy launch was rather week and certainly didn't move the numbers of systems most thought it would. People reported that systems were available.

As december moved on WiiFit was launched and Nintendo did ship extra units to the west but Japan is still their favored territory. So while supplies probably got very thin there was no indication of a complete sell-out as it had been elsewhere.

Also Japan has major post christmas sales historically so they have recieved the major units in the last month.

Remember that Smash launches this month and they are building an inventory.

Consoles can't just be moved from one country to another, once the region is set and they get teh pertinant packaging that is where it is going.

ok, so basically since late dec Japan has been NA esque... makes sense I guess.

Ye, Wii sales dipped below 30k pre-holiday weeks...

WiiFit is the new WiiSports and should keep 'em busy till the next game comes (Brawl and something else, Wii Music maybe?!... + Mario Kart Wii?!)
