An FPS with an on rails camera. That would be interesting.

But does it reduce or enhance the graphics if the camera is fixed or not?

nah it's done so because of the nature of the game. Without it GOW won't be..gow basically :)

OT: I can't wait to see the final build. Hopefully the next SP Demo (got early access baby! Spartans!!!!!!) will be closer to the final build. The improvements these guys make are crazy. I mean yesterday they showed updated images of the MP character build...so much has changed and improved

so hyped

You do realize that that wouldn't improve graphics that much, right?  The environments still have to be loaded in just like any other games.  It's not constantly dropping and reloading the environments you can't see outside of the camera's view.  That would lead to God awful load times.  The reason they keep the camera fixed is because that's how they did it from the start, even though they could have done a free camera system on the PS2, as well.  Instead, they prefered to use the right analog stick for dodging.

Negative, thats exactly what it does. The game is able to save on many resources by using a fixed camera as it isn't rendering unnecessary elements far outside players field of view. Boot up one of those cool emulators like Dolphin or NullDC and see how some static camera games look on multimonitor setups on PC.

Not to mention it's visually boring to have a camera stay static... Being able to rotate alone at a smooth frame rate adds to visual appeal of a game.

Somehow Santa Monica does it so well in God of War that it's not visually boring.

I agree regarding 3rd person cam vs fixed camera. However, for God of War, it works, and wouldn't feel like it otherwise. Thus, they keep that style.

That's fine if it works for fans of the series...I didn't mind it in the old PS2 games but since 3D camera movement became the norm it really bothers me. Same reason I didn't like Lords of Shadow. Static camera just bores me control wise as well as visually.

I'm also saying that the reason why they are able to use high res textures and render pretty effects is because they don't have to worry about any elements outside the FOV. They have a lot more memory to work with when they know they can drop textures and other game elements as soon as they are no longer in the players FOV.
