Forums - Sony - Beyond: Two Souls engine development was an 'absurd' idea done out of passion, says David Cage

Hope it doesnt come back to bite them in the ass :P, but respect

Around the Network

>We don't do that for money
>Complains about secound hand games hurting Heavy Rain sales and $$$$

Well, in a way, a lot of people have only taken notice of Beyond because of the upgraded engine and the incredible animation of the characters. Had the game re-used the same engine from Heavy Rain, the game likely wouldn't have garnered as much interest and word-of-mouth.

So, Cage is right, but he's leaving out some important pieces.

Video game development is a business like any other, and it's a careful balance of cost versus how much money can be made back through sales.  Upgrading the engine is probably going to be the only reason this game even sells moderately well.

The Screamapillar is easily identified by its constant screaming—it even screams in its sleep. The Screamapillar is the favorite food of everything, is sexually attracted to fire, and needs constant reassurance or it will die.

old news here, ninty has been doing that for around 30 years, making game with pasion. some may not but most of them are!!!
