what the hell is an AAA studio

Superbot, Vigil, Platinum Games, etc.  A studio that exclusively makes AAA console games.  I'm not talking mobile/social.  At all.

The A's are for "quality" right?

Eh... yes and no.  It's mostly meant to signify the type of games the studio makes, not necessarily whether the game a particular studio made had shitty cover-based mechanics and so the game flopped at retail.

I've said for awhile that Nintendo needs a wholly owned studio or two to develop games slanted toward an older demographic. If they're shy about the association, they can just create a separate publishing group--it would be separate in name only, really, but it would still keep the illusion intact. I don't really understand why Nintendo avoids other styles of gaming so completely.

On the subject, I think Sony needs to hire ex-Nintendo developers (or developers from similar studios) to create IPs aimed at children.

Did anyone else look at the THQ auction list and think that Nintendo missed some good opportunities? Can you imagine Darksiders 3 as a Nintendo exclusive, for example?

Yeah, I would looove to see Darksiders in the hands of Nintendo (as long as they don't tone down the violence)!

And i don't think Sony COULD scoop up former Nintendo employees: they stay for a very loooong time there...

I don't think Nintendo would promote a Darksiders III, it would steal some sales from LoZ. However I could imagine Vigil staff to help them with the new Zelda.

AAA studios=makers of big ass games

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

It's a combination of quality and development cost.

I actually don't think it would steal sales from Zelda; in that case it already has, and will do so if any other publisher swoops it up. Better Nintendo does it then, so that they might earn some money from the sales stealing.

Thanks lol.  Apparently my explanation wasn't making sense to some people.  But yes, you are absolutely correct.

Yeah, I mean so what if it steals sales from Zelda?  If Nintendo owns both games, the money all goes to the same place.

Haha, very good explanation. Even works for both sides of "big ass games"
